Our mission at MOSHI MOSHI NIPPON is to spread Japanese pop culture to the world - that includes fashion, music, anime, food and a whole lot more. We want to reach out to present and future J-fans in the hopes that you will make the trip over to Japan.

With a welcome increase in the number of visitors coming to Japan in recent years, we at MOSHI MOSHI NIPPON have been working with local businesses to offer products and services that are unique to Japan and also assist these companies with their localisation strategies. By employing a mix of marketing strategies, we aim to boost the local economy from inside and out.

In order to realise our hopes, we have created the 4 elements of MOSHI MOSHI NIPPON. They are 1. Our events that take place all over the world (FES), 2. Our MOSHI MOSHI BOX Harajuku Information Center (BOX), 3. Our website (WEB) and our original TV show on NHK World (TV.)

Kyary Pamyu Pamyu unleashes music video for new song “Harajuku Iyahoi”! Check out this uncanny festive song and the enigmatic “Iyahoi”

The music video for Kyary Pamyu Pamyu’s highly anticipated new song “Harajuku Iyahoi”, scheduled to hit shelves on January 18th, 2017, has finally be released.

Kyary has teamed up once more with the talented Hideyuki Tanaka for the new music video, who is also responsible for having directed Kyary’s own “Sai & Co” last year. “Harajuku Iyahoi” will have you dancing like crazy along with the Kyary Pamyu Pamyu trio that appear in the music video.

“Harajuku Iyahoi” is adopts the use of EDM and is a seriously upbeat song that you’ll love singing at places like karaoke.

Produced by Yasutaka Nakata, this is the first new material from Kyary since the release of her best-of album “KPP BEST” last year, and does away with the kind of musical atmosphere we’ve come to know from Kyary up to now. It drops the pop and catchy style of Kyary’s other songs and has a little bit more of a sad feeling to it. It’s a song where we can feel a more mature side of Kyary.
The things to highlight from this music video is the dancing and the outfit. Kyary worked alongside creators whom she has had close friendship with since her debut, and arranged lots of meetings herself from the planning stages to its release, in order to create this music video. The song’s melody sounds like a Russian tune, and so the choreography makes use of the Cossack dance, as well as other moves. Kyary made sure the dance moves were something that fans could join in with. The dance moves for the chorus quickly change from easy to difficult, but if you can master it, it’ll be the best feeling ever.

The main outfit for the music video is designed around the theme of a snow country. It is ice blue and silver giving it a Russian feel. And then there’s the two other Kyary Pamyu Pamyus that tag along in the video: IYA and HOI, who are outfitted like a Harajuku girl. They don big ribbons on their head, the trademark clothing item of a “Harajuku girl” as seen from overseas, and their outfits make use of exaggerated colours and having a ‘pop’ feeling to them.

Surrounding Kyary in the music video are countless dancers wearing high heels, sneakers, silk hats, teddy bears and more, all of which were filmed using motion capture. And all of them are synced with the countless number of Kyary Pamyu Pamyus, making for an amazing “Iyahoi Dance” scene.

Comment from Kyary Pamyu Pamyu
“‘Harajuku Iyahoi’ has an adult-like sound to it. As well as that, it has a lot of fun with the mysterious word “Iyahoi”. I think that contrast is exciting. It’s a mysterious festive song. I also tried contrasting the colours of the outfits. In the music video, you have my main outfit which is light blue, silver and cool, and the clothes for the side dancers are made in a pop style, with pink and lavender outfits. I’d also like people to see the outro, where lots of mysterious dancers come out one by one. They also have a pop style but are overflowing with madness.”

Comment from Director Hideyuki Tanaka
“Harajuku Iyahoi. Look at the title and listen to the song. The visuals are made in such a way that the very image of the song will come to you in an instant. Harajuku in the dead of night. The sketches for the visuals, ideas for the motifs, and the talks between Kyary and stylist Kumiko Iijima all started in December. It was hard working and filming the video during the New Year’s holiday, but we were somehow able to do it! I’d like to give a round of applause to Kyary who danced I don’t know how many times during the video shoot. The choreography is cute!”

“Harajuku Iyahoi” is available at iTunes, Apple Music and other music streaming services!
