The local mascots of Oyabe City, Toyama Prefecture called “Mrugyu-kun” and “Merumomo-chan” will participate in “Japan Expo” in France which will be held from the 6th of July, 2017 to the 9th (Sun.) for the second year in a row. In anticipation of this event, an event will be held at Harajuku Sightseeing Office MOSHI MOSHI BOX on the 20th of June (Tue.) 11:00 to 18:00 in order to let the world know about the charm points of Oyabe City.
“Japan Expo” is a Japan festival which held in the suburbs of Paris, France starting from the 1st of July every year. The size of the venue is 125 thousand square meters which is three times the size of Tokyo Dome and the number of visitors is more than 250 thousand. It can be said that the event is the largest expo in the world which introduces Japan culture. “Merugyu-kun” and “Merumomo-chan” will participate in one of the areas of the expo called the “WABI SABI” area. The area is the only official area in traditional/local area culture section and 138 thousand visitors visited the area in 2016.
“Merugyu-kun” and “Merumomo-chan” who will participate in such a big festival will come to MOSHI MOSHI BOX and sell/offer mascot goods and novelties. Moreover, a lantern-painting experience section (lanterns are used in the traditional event of Oyabe City called “Tsugiywa Yotaka Andon Matsuri”) and the experience section of Matsuribayashi (Japanese traditional festival) will be offered.
In addition, the photo panels of last year’s “Japan Expo” will be exhibited and the purpose of “WABI SABI” will be introduced through a painting experience of Mushae (picture of Japanese soldier) with “Kumamon” and “Shinjo-kun” who are introducing Japanese culture on a daily basis. Armored Musha (Japanese soldier) disguised in Yoshinaka Kiso who fought in Genpei Gassen (the name of a war) will appear and therefore, the venue will surly be exciting.
