Pokémon Themed Planetarium Coming to Ikebukuro Sunshine City

02.July.2018 | ANIME&GAME / SPOT

Ikebukuro’s Konica Minolta Planetarium in Sunshine City has undergone a revamp and reopened again on June 30, 2018. They have announced plans to put on a special Pokémon Sun & Moon showcase which will arrive on July 21.

Officially titled Pokémon Sun & Moon Planetarium, attendees will have the chance to experience a total solar eclipse together with their favourite characters. The planetarium has made their popular “Lawn Seats”―which let people lay down and look up at the stars―even better, allowing for people to enjoy an even more beautiful starry sky and projections.

The concept behind the revamp is “Dreams Even More Beautiful Under the Starry Sky.” The six laser projectors have been completely renewed to allow for an even more breathtaking experience.

Additionally, the planetarium will hold a Tanabata event from June 30 to July during which a special booth will be open in the lobby with a starry sky background where people can write their wishes. Once Tanabata has finished, those wishes will be given to Tanabata Shrine in Fukuoka Prefecture where they will be kindled.
