    14.September.2018 | MUSIC / SPOT

It has been announced that the world’s most popular virtual singer Hatsune Miku will perform at Tokyo 150 Years, an event hosted by the city of Tokyo.

“Tokyo 150 Years” is the main event of “Old meets New: Tokyo 150 Years,” an upcoming festival that will take place at Hamarikyu Gardens in Tokyo from October 26 to 28 in celebration of the capital’s name change from Edo to Tokyo and the establishment of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. Hatsune Miku will perform as part of the event’s main program which is themed on “Tradition & Reform.” There will be a variety of displays showcasing the appeal of Tokyo and its culture.

This program, entitled Koku o Asobu Jikuu no Tabi ~ Hatsune Miku Links Tokyo 150~, will take place at the pond in the garden where Miku will be projected onto a water screen spanning 30 meters wide and 15 meters tall. Projection mapping will also be used on the tea shop that’s situated in the middle of the pond as well as on the trees in the back. Miku will perform popular songs that have been released in the past 150 years while donning fashion from the Meiji, Taisho, Showa and Heisei periods of Japan.

Japanese jazz pianist Masahiko Sato will be in charge of the music who has rearranged Miku’s songs in a jazzy style.

Check out Miku’s trailer for the event below.

Miku will also join hands with Megurine Luka to collaborate and perform with Masahiko Sato again on November 11 at Kawasaki Jazz 2018 with a full concert in Culttz Kawasaki.

  • LeChat Appointed Goodwill Ambassador for French Virtual Singer Alys

    20.September.2018 | MUSIC

Internationally popular cosplayer and singer LeChat has been chosen to act as a goodwill ambassador for Alys, a virtual singer developed in France who has been called the French version of Hatsune Miku.

The offer came from VoxWave, the company behind Alys, after LeChat stole their hearts. Joffrey Collignon of VoxWave had the following to say:

Japan is a very popular country here in France. Even I wanted to visit the country when I was small. I studied abroad at Tokyo University and came into contact with Japanese culture and knew I absolutely wanted to work in Japan. We also came across LeChat. We thought the level of perfect in her cosplay was wonderful, and knew we could entrust Alys with her. She’s also active as a singer so having her collaborate with Alys was the absolute best.” (Translated from Japanese)

LeChat also commented on being appointed Ambassadrice Officielle D’Alys:

“I love France – even my [stage] name is French. I already knew I wanted to go to France, so it’s really an honour to be appointed to a position like this. I will work hard to become a bridge between France. I look forward to making an Alys outfit.” (Translated from Japanese)

LeChat loves beautiful things and the horror genre beyond all else and even works as an official cosplayer for the Cardfight!! Vanguard franchise of anime and games. She will also showcase her cosplay for the Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress by DMM GAMES at this year’s Tokyo Game Show which is taking place at Makuhari Messe on September 22 and 23.

LeChat has taken her work around the world to countries like Switzerland, the UK, Germany, Hong Kong ,China, Poland, Singapore, Brazil, Malaysia and elsewhere. Keep up to date to see what she’s up to next.
