Laforet Harajuku 40th Anniversary Week: Limited Edition Items, Pop-Up Shops & More

Laforet Harajuku will turn 40-years-old on October 28. To commemorate, the shopping mall is holding an event called Laforet Harajuku 40th Anniversary Week “with LAFORET” which will run from October 20 to November 11 to celebrate all of the customers, shops and involved creators now and into the future.

with LAFORET will see a whole host of content arrive at the 120 or so shops at Laforet Harajuku as well as at Laforet Museum Harajuku from events to pop-up shops, a fashion show and more.

 

Events Hosted By Popular Shops

“MALL by WALL” by WALL (Floor 1F)

Running: October 20, 2018

Location: Laforet Museum Harajuku 6F

Entry: Free

WALL is relocating to Laforet Museum Harajuku for one day only. They will celebrate 40 years of Laforet with a line of booths by 40 brands they stock as well as announcements for new products.

“ANGELIC PRETTY MUSEUM” by Angelic Pretty (Floor B1.5F)

Running: October 26, 2018 – October 27, 2018

Location: Laforet Museum Harajuku 6F

Entry: Free

Angelic Pretty is a fashion brand that has garnered much attention both in Japan and overseas since its inception. This exhibition will display everything Angelic Pretty is iconic as well as showcase a panel archive of the products they have put out there, host a fashion show with special guest invitations and more.

Location: Laforet Museum Harajuku 6F

How to Enter: Receive an entry ticket by spending over ¥5,000 (tax included) at ALICE and the PIRATES on floor B1.5F following October 20.

ALICE and the PIRATES is popular for its dark and bewitching tone that is distinctly different from the lolita style. It is a sister brand of Japanese clothing chain Baby, The Stars Shine Bright which featured in the movie Kamikaze Girls and is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. They will exhibit the brand’s history and host a full-blown fashion show that introduces their newest creations.

SPECIAL EXHIBITION

Vivienne Westwood – “GET A LIFE!”

Running: November 2, 2018 – November 18, 2018

Location: Laforet Museum Harajuku 6F

Entry: Free

This special exhibition brings together the works of British fashion designer Vivienne Westwood in her role as a fashion activist. There will also be a project people can get involved in creating by taking their plastic bottle caps to the exhibition. Attendees can look forward to getting their hands on some limited edition items too.

 

Pop-Up Shops By Famous Brands

MILKBOY

Running: October 5, 2018 – October 14, 2018

Location: Laforet Harajuku 1F ENTRANCE SPACE

Japanese fashion brand and Harajuku pioneer MILKBOY is setting up a pop-up shop for Laforet Harajuku’s 40th. They will exhibit their latest collection “PSYCHIC CLUB” and release exclusive items you can only get at their shop. They will also sell a range of items made in collaboration with a string of other brands they have close ties with including BOUNTY HUNTER, Comme des Garçons, fragment design, realmad HECTIC, UNDERCOVER and others. Also, every evening while the pop-up shop is running, there will be must-see events for fans including in-store live shows and more. 6-D/6%DOKIDOKI

Running: October 27, 2018 – November 5, 2018

Location: Laforet Harajuku 1F ENTRANCE SPACE

6%DOKIDOKI, a brand created by proponent of Harajuku ‘kawaii culture’ Sebastian Masuda, will also open their own pop-up shop. Continuing to innovate and lead culture, they will showcase their new 2018 spring and summer collection ‘6-D Sebastian Masuda.’ They will also exhibit and sell their latest collection which they have just finished showcasing overseas. This will be the first even in Japan where you can get a peek at the newest products from 6%DOKIDOKI.

Bathroom Renewals

New toilet facilities will make their way to the art gallery on floor B1F on October 27. They are designed by art director Hitoki Naruo who has had a hand in creating many visuals for campaigns held by Laforet Harajuku. The concept behind the new facilities is ‘a window into art and culture in Laforet Harajuku’s restrooms.’ It will serve as both an art gallery and restroom. The first art piece on display was made by photographer Toshio Ohno.

Free food will be available at select restaurants to Laforet Card members.
