Japanese shoe designer Noritaka Tatehana is holding an exhibition at Basement GINZA in Tokyo titled ―NORITAKA TATEHANA RETHINK―THEORY OF THE ELEMENTS from October 3 to 14.
Artist talks will also take place on October 12 and 13 with both Tatehana and Japanese craft director Yuudai Tachikawa who is responsible for working with Tatehana on the products being exhibited.
The event comes after the success of Tatehana’s exhibition held over a period of three days last month, ―NORITAKA TATEHANA RETHINK―Noritaka Tatehana & the Art of Japanese Scents. The exhibition is home to some of Tatehana’s most established pieces including the ‘heel-less shoes’ worn by Lady Gaga as well as those based on the ‘scents’ of Japanese culture. His many works are a result of his creative activities within the sphere of various traditional Japanese crafts from across the country. They are made from carefully selected materials and manual labour.
Experience Nirotaka Tatehana’s work up close to witness his skillful demonstration of Japanese craft, a form of his which looks towards the future in continuing to construct Japanese culture.
