22.November.2018 | FOOD

BOBA365 is a new shop opening in Asakusa on November 25, 2018 that combines chewy tapioca with Japanese ingredients to create delicious drinks.

The tapioca used is made slowly and carefully in Japan and is additive-free. It’s then combined with a homemade syrup to complete. A standout feature of this shop’s tapioca is that it is always served fresh. They promise you will become addicted to the chewy texture and sweet taste of their large-grained tapioca balls.

Tapioca Matcha Latte Kiwami: ¥650 (Tax Included)

Enjoy a matcha latte made from slightly bitter matcha farmed in Shizuoka Prefecture and combined with milk. There’s just enough sweetness to give the drink a deeper flavour. Matcha is said to be good for health and beauty so this ‘Kiwami’ version uses all the richness of the matcha.

Tapioca Kyoto Uji Uejima Sourokuen Gyokuro: ¥600 (Tax Included)

There is also gyokuro green tea which uses Uejima Sourokuen’s award-winning tea leaves. This authentic gyokuro has a distinct sweetness and fragrance to it.

If you’re in Asakusa then be sure to try these tapioca beverages yourself which you won’t find anywhere but in Japan.

  • Drink Tea in Style With FORTUNER tea-box’s Cheese Tea Tapioca in Harajuku

    21.September.2018 | FOOD / SPOT

Hi, everyone.  It's Midori from the MOSHI MOSHI BOX Harajuku Tourist Information Center.   It's been a trend for a while now, but tapioca shops have started popping up recently in Harajuku, and they've become so popular that most girls you see walking around there are drinking tapioca. Harajuku's going through a real tapioca boom!   They're all holding cups from a number of different shops, but the one getting much attention for their cute cups is FORTUNER tea-box, so I went to take a look! FORTUNER tea-box is located behind the MOSHI MOSHI BOX along Tonchan Street (とんちゃん通り) on the first floor of a building called FLAG.   If you walk from Murasaki Sports along Tonchan Street you'll spot a 7-Eleven. Go past there and it's inside Anywhere Door opposite BEAMS RECORDS.   You'll know it once you've passed the offices and open conference rooms and see girls holding cups. For those who aren't good with tapioca, have no fear. They also serve drinks without tapioca, as well as unsweetened teas amongst other things. I ordered the "Cheese Tapioca Milk Tea"!   At first glance you can tell it's no ordinary tapioca milk tea, right? It has two layers with the top part being a whipped cream cheese.   I wondered to myself how cream cheese could work with sweet milk tea but when I took a sip the sourness of the cream cheese and sweetness of the milk tea came together to create a deliciousl salty-sweet taste! It contains big and small chewy tapioca. You can treat it like a dessert.   There are two mouthpieces on the lid and the straw is a super cute heart shape! It's cute as well when you knock it back and get a cream cheese moustache. The inside of the shop too is cute and Instagram-worthy. There were lots of people taking photos when I went. I recommend taking a photo with the BEAMS RECORD sign behind you which is close to the shop.   Buy a stylish drink with your friend and snap some photos with a snazzy background!

    25.September.2018 | FOOD

Taiwanese cafe Chun Sui Tang is releasing an original Japanese-style drink that will only be available this Autumn! The brand new Tapioca Hōjicha Milk Tea will be released on Wednesday 26th September.   Hōjicha, a type of Japanese green tea that involves roasting the tea leaves in a specific way, is fused with tapioca milk tea. The new creation introduces a new way to enjoy flavours. As the tea leaves are sourced from Shizuoka, all the raw ingredients are free from additives and are 100% national produce. A master tea specialist carefully roasts the tea leaves using a far infrared roaster and continues the process until the stem is reached. At this point, the tea is turned into a fine powder and a wonderful aroma drifts through the air. The texture of the chewy tapioca combined with the mildly bitter Hōjicha milk and fluffy cream makes for a great combination. Enjoy a wonderful Japanese-style original tapioca drink which makes for a great dessert!   ...but that's not all the shop has to offer!! This year, the autumn-limited "Tapioca Adzuki Milk Tea" is making a comeback!
