The scorching sun is already shining on Sanrio Puroland as it announces its special summer event Puro Summer Festival 2019 which will take place from July 12 to September 1.
The festival will centre around three elements: music, food and beach. Guests can look forward to enjoying the park’s first ever festival-themed live show as well as an exciting beach event which will see the appearance of the indoor “Puro Island,” tasty food from meat to desserts, and lots more.
For the live show, costumed characters will take to the stage to perform a mix of rock, hip-hop, techno, disco and soul music while beckoning the crowd in fun call-and-response segments.
The beach will be brought to those who head into the entertainment hall where cute and colourful sea-themed decorations and motifs will be scattered around. Look out for the mascot characters wearing their summer costumes including a tanned Hello Kitty. Guests who pay a fee can also participate in a summertime-only “greeting” where they can meet the characters.
Peckish guests are invited to the Puro Meat & Dessert Festival where they can try wolfing down a “mega” portion of the Gudetama Roast Beef Don which has 1.8x more meat than the regular size, or they can cool themselves down with special ice candy made in collaboration with Cold Stone Creamery.

Licaxxx Announces Tokyo Community Radio’s Second Event Series ‘communities’ to be Held in Tokyo and Osaka
Tokyo Community Radio (TCR), an online radio platform run by Licaxxx, has announced a new event titled communities. The event will be held at Daikanyama UNIT / Saloon in Tokyo on June 30 and at Osaka JOULE on July 1. The guest lineup includes re:ni and Laksa, two hot up-and-coming DJs and producers reshaping the UK music scene. The Mine City Tourism Association has announced a Christmas & Valentine’s Day event at Akiyoshido Cave, one of the largest limestone caves in Japan. The event will see the natural wonder illuminated by a number of colorful lights. The Christmas event will run from December 21 to 25, 2022, while the Valentine’s Day event will run from February 10 to 14, 2023. Akiyoshido Cave is one of Yamaguchi Prefecture’s most popular tourist attractions. The interior will be decorated with colorful lights and unique soundscapes, creating a once-in-a-lifetime setting for visitors. These illuminations and sounds were directed by world-renowned lighting designer Motoko Ishii, known for her work on Tokyo Tower and the Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge.

The Metaverse event that was a smash hit in 2021 will be returning in 2023! Sanrio Virtual Festival 2023 in Sanrio Puroland, one of the world’s largest music festivals blending both the real and virtual worlds, will be held starting January 13, 2023. A lineup of high-profile performers has been announced, including Airi Suzuki, SKY-HI, Yabai T-Shirts Yasan, and Aoi Fuji. Popular Sanrio characters such as Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll, and Kuromi will also appear, and visitors will be able to experience the virtual Puroland by utilizing unique avatars and taking part in a number of exciting events.
