Food Review: Tokyo DisneySea & Disney Ambassador Hotel’s Toy Story 4 Menu

20.June.2019 | FEATURES / FOOD

Hi, everyone. I’m Midori from MMN’s editorial team.

To celebrate the release of Toy Story 4, Tokyo Disney Resort are currently holding an event titled “Fun Time With Toy Story 4” at Tokyo DisneySea which will run until September 1. Toy Story fans can roll up and enjoy themed food, merchandise and limited-time photos spots.

I visited the park to try out the themed menus being served both in the park and at Disney Ambassador Hotel.

Head on over to the Mexican restaurant Miguel’s El Dorado Cantina at Lose River Delta in Tokyo DisneySea® to find the limited edition food. It’s quite a distance from Toy Story Mania! so keep this in mind if you’re thinking of visiting there beforehand.

I went ahead and ordered the special set at the counter.

Special Plate Set: ¥1,580 (Tax Included)

The special set includes pork cutlet with pancetta cream sauce, sausage on a bone, turmeric rice, mustard dip, and a soft drink. For an extra ¥400 you can get a dessert thrown in there too.

If you look closely you will see that the rice is shaped into Woody’s face, making for an Instagrammable shot. The sausage being on a bone also means you can enjoy chomping it down.

Condensed Milk Mousse & Orange Mango Cream: ¥500 (Tax Included) (*¥400 if you order with the Special Set)

I recommend this dessert whether on its own or with the set. It comes with a cookie of Billy, Goat and Gruff and is topped with strawberries to give it a cute look. The orange and mango cream is refreshing and a perfect summertime dessert.

Strawberry Jelly Melon Soda: ¥400 (Tax Included)

At the same shop you can also order this striking and colourful melon soda. The bottom of the melon soda is packed full of strawberry jelly which taste delicious together.

It also contains pieces of yellow jelly for even more textures. The cup has cute Toy Story illustrations on it.

For an extra ¥500 when ordering a drink you can also get one of these rubber souvenir coasters. These coasters are sold at other shops in the park too with different designs. Check out the official website to see what coasters you can get and where.

Over in the Hyperion Lounge at the Disney Ambassador® Hotel t hey are also serving a special cake set.

Disney Pixar Toy Story 4 Special Cake Set: ¥2,000 / Serving 17:00-22:00 *Limited servings per day

The cake set features an edible Woody and Forky image and mizuame water candy made to look like the moon. It’s combined with pineapple cake and yoghurt mousse to create a delicious dessert. The set comes with a choice of tea or coffee.

Toy Story 4 will be released on July 21, 2019. Celebrate its release with a trip to Tokyo DisneySea this summer.

That’s why today we will be introducing you to foods and drinks that will keep you cool and refreshed in this baking heat.

A Cute Mickey Biscuit Ice Cream ♡

Head to ICE CREAM CONES at World Bazaar to get your hands on a soft serve ice cream with chocolate (¥500). A wafer cone is filled with  delicious soft serve ice cream and then topped with chocolate sauce and bright, colourful chocolate. Finally, a biscuit decorated with Mickey’s winky face is placed on top.

The shop’s interior is decorated with cute pastel colours which make it the perfect spot for a picture, however, a picture with Cinderella’s castle in the background is also a grand idea.

This is perfect for those of you who are looking for something both refreshing and cute. The ice cream has a rejuvenating flavour and tastes perfect along with the bitter cone.

A Refreshing Cold Meal: Beef Salad Udon Noodles

This one is recommended for those of you who are hungry but want to eat something cool rather than a burger. If this is you, head to Plazma Ray’s Diner at Tomorrowland for their cold beef karubi udon (¥780).

Thick cold noodles are served in a delicious soup along with pieces of beef, aubergine, okra and other summer vegetables. It even includes a pink fish paste cake cut into the shape of Mickey’s face. You are bound to finish this refreshing meal quickly on a hot summer’s day.

Perfect for the Peckish : A Sweet Treat

The same shop sells a Monsters, Inc-themed Mike sandwich biscuit that is filled with chocolate ganache (¥400). This is the perfect pick-me-up when you’re in search of a quick energy boost.

Cool chocolate and marshmallows are squished between the two biscuits. Have you noticed the giant eye on the top of the biscuit? You just won’t be able to resist taking a photo. When you’re slightly peckish, make sure to give it a try!

    A Moderately Sweet Refreshing Drink

This one is for the coffee-lovers. Pop by Café Orléans to pick up the D’s Delights Vanilla Smoothie & Coffee Jelly (¥500). Underneath the vanilla smoothie is a layer of coffee jelly. The top of the smoothie is filled with cocoa. We recommend you thoroughly mix the vanilla smoothie and coffee jelly before drinking it. The sweetness of the smoothie and the bitterness of the coffee jelly are a match made in heaven. When you’re tired of walking and need something sweet and refreshing, this drink is sure to power you up back to full battery.

Fruity Shaved Ice With Actual Fruit Pieces

Last but not least is the Shaved Ice (¥400) which is sold at many places including Huey, Dewey and Louie’s Good Time Cafe. There are two flavours to choose from; Japanese pear and Japanese orange. The sauce poured all over your ice contains actual pieces of fruit that will bring you right back to life. If you pay an extra ¥400, you can get your shaved ice served in a Toy Story-themed souvenir cup that you can take back home with you.

With all the sun and excitement at Disneyland, you could overheat, so please take care and make sure to rejuvenate yourself with something refreshing and delicious!

  • Kaori’s Easy Recipe: Learn to Make a Toy Story’s Little Green Men Japanese Parfait

    04.April.2020 | FEATURES / FOOD

With just a small bit of ingenuity, turn everyday food into something cute using Kaori’s easy recipe! With a few simple ideas, an ordinary recipe magically transforms into a cute dish.

We’re all locked up at home right now as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, and so I want to show you a fun character ice cream recipe that can be made with things you have at home! In this recipe, we’ll learn how to make a Japanese parfait made in the image of the Little Green Men from Toy Story. This recipe is taken from the recipe book Disney Tsum Tsum Sweets Recipes.

    Ingredients

    Matcha Ice Cream

    Chocolate Pens

    Fruit

Toppings of your choice, such as red bean paste or soy flour

    1.

Draw the eyes, ears, and antennae of your little green men onto a baking sheet using a chocolate pen. Place into the freezer to chill.

    2.

Let the ice cream come to room temperature so it’s easier to scoop, then scoop out with a round ice cream scoop.

You can get an ice cream scoop from a dollar store. If you don’t have one, place the softened ice cream into something round, and then let it harden again in the freezer. Afterwards, remove and place it into some cling film to shape it roundーthe same method you use for making onigiri rice balls in Japan. Then let it solidify in the freezer once more.

    3.

Before letting your ice cream from Step ② fully solidify, first place on the face parts from Step ①. If your ice cream is completely solidified and not soft enough, the parts will break when you try to fix them on, so make sure to take note. Once the parts are on, place into the freezer to harden. By doing this, the eyes, ears, and antennae will affix to the head.

    4.

In the recipe book, they top their parfait with rice flour dumplings, but I’m using the outer part of a large daifuku for my toppings. It’s something I saw on the TV recently.

Add a tablespoon of granulated sugar and two tablespoons of potato starch into a bowl and slowly add hot water until it becomes transparent. This is a super easy way to make gyuhi, a type of soft Japanese confectionery like mochi and daifuku.

    5.

Add the gyuhi on top of the red bean paste and top with soy flour.

    6.

Add your Little Green Man and fruit of your choice, then tuck int!

Kaori invites you into her world of character-themed food dishes in her recipe series. Be sure to check out her Instagram where she has uploaded many pictures of her character dishes!
