Evangelion fans will soon be able to take a special tour on the 500 Type EVA Shinkansen bullet train.

The train is part of the “Shinkansen: Evangelion Project”, started in 2015 to mark 40 years since the opening of the Sanyo Shinkansen Line. Produced under the supervision of Evangelion creator Hideaki Anno and mechanical designer Ikuto Yamashita, the 500 Type EVA’s interior and exterior have been completely retrofitted to fit the Evangelion universe. The train was put into operation on the Sanyo Shinkansen Line on November 7th, 2015, and will run until Spring 2018, with special commemorative merchandise released throughout the span of the project.
