Godzilla Interception Operation Awaji: The World’s First Large-Scale Godzilla Attraction Opens at Nijigen no Mori
Nijigen no Mori, an anime theme park located on Awaji Island in Hyogo, Japan, is now home to a towering 120m tall Godzilla statue. The park’s new Godzilla area, which features a host of attractions from zip-lining to shooting, will open on October 10, 2020.
In line with the opening of the new area, Nijigen no Mori is now offering free Godzilla postcards with tickets when bought online. Check out the official promotional video for the area below.
The new attraction imagines Godzilla landing on Awaji Island, ready to display his immense size and power to the people living there. Those brave enough to go head-to-head with the giant monster can look forward to a variety of missions, including zooming along a zipline straight through a detailed recreation of Godzilla’s insides, a shooting game, and more.
Guests who participate in the attraction become a member of the National Awaji Island Institute of Godzilla Disaster. They will watch a video created by Toho which explains the attraction.
Guests will be strapped into a harness and zipline on one of two courses: a 162cm course which goes straight through Godzilla’s insides, and a 152m one which lets you zoom past Godzilla to see him from the outside.
After getting up close and personal with Godzilla, guests can have a hand at shooting down the monster.
The park will also be home to the world’s first permanent Godzilla Museum which will showcase dioramas of scenes from the films, over 100 figures, and lots of other material related to the franchise that fans won’t want to miss.
Museum Shop / Mori no Terrace
The museum will also have its own shop selling exclusive Godzilla merchandise you can’t find anywhere else. There will even be a restaurant called Mori no Terrace serving 14 different dishes themed on Godzilla, like the black and red Godzilla Curry.

“I am very happy to be able to make the world of Donkey Kong a reality following the world of Mario. I am looking forward to creating a thrilling Donkey Kong experience with the amazing team at Universal. Noseden Artline Festival 2021 Bringing Light, Sound, and Food to the Kawanishi Area
A celebration of light, sound, and food, the biennial Noseden Artline 2021 Festival will take place from October 30 until November 23, 2021. Set in one city and three towns along the Nose Electric Railway, the regional art event began in 2013 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the rail line, and brings local artists and residents together.
The festival will be in Kawanishi and Inagawa in Hyogo Prefecture, as well as in Toyono and Nose in Osaka Prefecture, with Mt. Myoken marking the center point. Each part of the event will connect the history, industry, and tradition of the area with new and engaging creations.
The theme of the 2021 Noseden Artline Festival is ‘Enlarged Mentality.’ By taking things that are subjective, like an artist’s thoughts and senses, and applying them to the objective world that can be shared, it creates a one-of-a-kind way to connect fully with others. The event will feature local cuisine and music, as well as art focused on light, inspired by the North Star. After a year of solitude due to the pandemic, the festival hopes to remind people to cultivate, nourish, and preserve local relationships.
Art can make life more enjoyable, so why not come and see what the area has to offer?

Japan’s Poké Lid Project Lays Down New Manhole Covers in Hyogo Prefecture
Three new Pokémon manhole covers were unveiled in Awaji, Hyogo Prefecture on August 11, as part of the Poké Lid project. The new designs depict the legendary Pokémon Lugia, Bayleef, Aromatisse, and Cloyster. These are the first Poké Lids to be placed in Hyogo.
Including these new additions, the total number of Pokémon-themed manhole covers across Japan is now 201. The project began with the installation of a Eevee manhole cover in Ibusuki City, Kagoshima Prefecture in December 2018.
Each one features completely original Pokémon art, and going on a pilgrimage to visit each of them has become a popular new fad. The project aims to promote local tourism by using these internationally-loved characters.
There are also plans to turn each cover into Pokéstops, used in the popular location-based Pokemon GO smartphone game.

Meiji Marble Chocolate Themed Hotel Room Opens at The Royal Park Hotel Kyoto Umekoji
In celebration of Meiji’s popular Marble chocolate, The Royal Park Hotel Kyoto Umekoji is collaborating with the confectionery brand to offer a Marble themed hotel room for guests. The room opened on July 27.

Meiji’s colourful Marble chocolate was first released in 1961. It turned 60-years-old in February of this year, meaning it has continued to be enjoyed by three generations. Grandparents have passed them onto mothers and fathers, and them to their own children. Now the whole family can celebrate the chocolate in a themed hotel room in Kyoto.
Named the Marble Room, the hotel room is decorated in seven colours just like the chocolates themselves. This includes seven individual pillows on the sofa, balloons, wall decorations, and more. There’s even a crane game inside the room where guests can obtain some chocolates for free.
Also inside the room are Showa retro-style posters and a telephone, and guests can watch all of the old Marble commercials on the television which have aired these past 60 years. Guests also receive a free smartphone ring, eco bag, pouch, and other little freebies as part of the plan.
