Super Nintendo World Releases Virtual Tour of Entire Theme Park Area

Universal Studios Japan (USJ) announced last month that its highly-anticipated new Super Nintendo World area will open on February 4, 2021, which also happens to fall on the day of USJ’s 20th anniversary.

 

Super Nintendo World comes as the world’s first theme park area to be based around Nintendo’s characters and games, combining innovative ideas with cutting-edge technology.

 

With just one month left until the grand opening, USJ has launched a special website for Super Nintendo World which offers a virtual tour through each part of the new theme park area. Mario fanatics are sure to be delighted by the adornments from Bowser’s Castle to Pipes, Mushrooms, Question blocks, and more, as well as familiar faces like Goombas, Thwomps, Yoshi—the list goes on.

 

Accessing the site will bring you to an overview of the map. As you scroll down the website takes you on a virtual journey to each of its iconic attractions, all of which are designed to make you feel like you’re really in the world of Super Mario.

    Hoshino Resorts OMO7 Asahikawa opened its Penguin Room on April 6, a single new guest room themed around penguins designed in collaboration with Asahikawa Zoo.

    After a visit to Asahikawa Zoo, guests can head back to their hotel room where a variety of fun penguin-related items are stocked including games, all of which will remind them of their time at the zoo.

    The room is also decorated with boards featuring photos and information of animals at Asahikawa Zoo. The boards are handwritten by the zoo staff, something they do every spring season.

     

    Hoshino Resorts OMO7 Asahikawa previously collaborated with Asahikawa Zoo when a polar bear themed room. Now, penguin lovers can have their dream come true as they spend their time surrounded by penguin decorations in their room.   • Disney Japan Celebrates 30th Anniversary of Disney Fan Magazine With Special Event

    Walt Disney Japan will celebrate both the 30th anniversary of its Disney Fan monthly magazine and the 10th anniversary of its Disney Store original character UniBEARsity with a special event titled “Disney FAN 30th anniversary FAN!FAN!FAN!” which will run at the Shibuya Koen-dori branch of the Disney Store from April 2 and the Shinsaibashi branch from May 14.

    The event will pay homage to the 30-year history of the much-loved Disney Fan magazine as well as feature a special art exhibition of past front covers. This artwork will be included on new and exclusive merchandise sold at the store. UniBEARsity will also see the spotlight as its history is also covered along with a range of 10th anniversary items.

    The collection has inspired by Tezuka’s manga series Phoenix, his life work that he continued to work passionately until his late years, and Black Jack, which is still popular overwhelmingly among the doctors.   • Animal Crossing: New Horizons Releases Osaka’s City of Daito as Accessible Island

    The city of Daito in Osaka teamed up with the Nintendo Switch title Animal Crossing: New Horizons to release the city as an accessible island, Daito Island, on March 10.

     

    Every March, Daito hosts a PR event to promote the city. Due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, however, the event has seen strict restrictions that do not allow social gatherings. In order that the event not be cancelled entirely, Daito is collaborating with Animal Crossing: New Horizons to promote the city in-game with stalls, historical content like traditional armour and Iimoriyama Castle, and more.

    Visitors to the island will receive three kinds of Miyoshi Nagayoshi armour, a family crest, and a hat and outfit of Daito’s city mascot Daiton. These are available until April 30.

  • Detective Conan Themed Cafes Open in Japan to Promote Upcoming ‘Scarlet Bullet’ Anime Film
