First ‘Diamond Skytree’ Photo Event to be Held at Sunshine 60 Observation Deck in Tokyo

The SKY CIRCUS Sunshine 60 Observatory in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, will hold its first ‘Diamond Skytree’ photography event on October 18, 2021, with another viewing on October 20. These events will have guests up early, beginning just after 6:00AM! This is when the sun will overlap with the very tip of Tokyo Skytree in the east, and is an extremely rare sight that can only be seen a few days each year.

The best way to experience this once-in-a-lifetime event is to stay at the Sunshine City Prince Hotel, where you can also enjoy a night-view photo session the night before. It also means there won’t be any rushing to the observatory in the wee hours of the morning! Visitors will also be able to hear a talk from night-sky photographer Hiroyuki Narisawa on how best to photograph ‘Diamond Skytree.’

    For those unable to make it to the event, the NAMCO PARKS Online Store will begin selling these original goods nationwide starting September 18.     Originally held as a special exhibition at the Osamu Tezuka Manga Museum in Takurazuka, the CAPCOM vs. Tezuka Osamu CHARACTERS’ Exhibition is coming to the Kanto Region for the first time starting October 1. The event will be held on the 7th floor of Ikebukuro PARCO until October 18, 2021.

     

    The collection features characters from Tezuka’s many manga works, and pits them against many popular characters from Capcom properties, including Street Fighter, Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, and more. Seeing popular personalities from Astro Boy and Black Jack with these modern video game characters is quite a sight!

     

    This year’s event will feature new main event illustrations, new Devil May Cry and Ace Attorney exhibits, and an updated layout.

     

    In addition to the products previously sold in Takarazuka, new merchandise will also be available for purchase at the venue.

  • Popular Game Touken Ranbu To Celebrate Stage Show’s Fifth Anniversary with Exhibition at Ikebukuro PARCO

    Super popular sword simulation game Touken Ranbu-ONLINE- will be celebrating the fifth anniversary of its 2.5D stage show with a special exhibition, held at Ikebukuro PARCO Factory between September 10 and 27, 2021.  A travelling exhibition is also scheduled to visit Nagoya and Shinsaibashi. 

     

    The exhibition will host a selection of dynamic attractions, including an area exploring the five year history of the theatre show,  an area displaying costumes and set pieces from the latest performance, and a display featuring the umbrellas shown in the curtain call of each show.

    There will also be limited anniversary goods available – A must-have for any Touken Ranbu fan!

  • Upcoming The Prince of Tennis CG Film Inspires Limited-Time Cafe

    Capcom Cafe Ikebukuro will be hosting a special cafe inspired by the upcoming The Prince of Tennis film, releasing in theaters September 3. The cafe will run from September 3 until October 14. 

     

    The Prince of Tennis ran in the popular manga magazine Shonen Jump from 1999 until 2008, and found incredible popularity in Japan. It was adapted into an anime series in 2001, running for 178 episodes, and has also been transformed into 15 stage musicals, a live-action film, a radio show, multiple video games, and more. The upcoming 3DCG film was announced in 2019. 

     

    In a teaser image released to promote the special cafe, main character Ryoma appears beside other characters from the series in an adorable tiny style. More details about the menu and goods offered will be revealed soon, so keep an eye out for an update!

  • Fullmetal Alchemist Art Exhibition to Return for the Manga’s 20th Anniversary in Tokyo and Osaka

    As part of the 20th anniversary celebrations of Hiromu Arakawa’s manga series Fullmetal Alchemist, the Fullmetal Alchemist Exhibition RETURNS art exhibition will run at Sunshine City Exhibition Hall C in Ikebukuro, Tokyo from December 18, 2021 to January 16, 2022. It will subsequently take place at Hirakata Park in Osaka in Spring 2022.

     

    The exhibition is a powered up version of the original exhibition that took place from 2017 to 2019. It will feature lots more artwork for fans of the series to enjoy. The key visual for the exhibition is based on the original monochrome illustration that Arakawa drew 20 years ago to announce the manga’s serialization. She has redrawn it with colours for the exhibition.

    Arina Tanemura made her debut in the shojo manga magazine Ribbon Original in 1996 with her short manga The Style of the Second Love. In 1998, she garnered mainstream popularity when her work Phantom Thief Jeanne began serialisation which has over 5.5 million copies in circulation. Some of her other famous works including Full Moon o SagashiteSakura Hime: The Legend of Princess Sakura, and The Gentlemen’s Alliance Cross. In 2015, she worked as the character designer for the smartphone game IDOLiSH7.



    This marks her third cafe collaboration, and this time it’s themed on a ‘Precious Wedding Party’ with food inspired by the characters from her stories as well as exclusive merchandise.
