The TGPC are holding a fashion show titled “TOKYO GLAMOROUS POCCHARI COLLECTION 2017A/W” for plus size brands and plus size women at Shinjuku ALTA on Friday September 29th.
Amidst an time where slender models are all the rage at fashion events in Japan, plus size model Ai Momoka is hosting a fashion show just for plus size models where lots of plus size fashion brands are set to get together. For Momoka, fashion has nothing to do with whether your big or small – it’s about having fun.
The plus size models appearing at the event are all in favour of this stance. In order for true plus size fashion shows to be held not just overseas but in Japan too, runway walk lessons have been held every week for more than half a year.
Some of the surprise participating groups include Dinos Cecile’s “plump,” GSI Creos’s “VARAL DE MODA+,” Cuulong Trading’s “CL,” International Swan Group’s “GOLDJAPAN,” and more. People will have the opportunity to see numerous fashion brands displaying items you normally can’t buy, made-to-order dresses and more at the show.
On the day of the event, a website titled “GLAPOCHA” will be launched with information on plus size fashion, and there will also be a talk by the models. The website will have articles written by the models from their perspective on topics like fashion, food and events.
Ai Momoka wants fashion to be put first and for more spaces to be created where people can enjoy going out looking good without worrying about their body type. So two plus size fashion shows, “S/S” and “A/W,” will continue to be held every year.

Previously, the unique event has been held in various regions, including the Ikaho Onsen town in Gunma Prefecture and the UNESCO World Heritage site of Zuiganji Temple in Matsushima, Miyagi Prefecture, to promote the nighttime economy of different areas. Even in tourist destinations where businesses tend to close early at night, this event breathes new life into the city's landmarks through illuminations and projection mapping, allowing tourists to make the most of their evenings and supporting measures for dispersed tourism.

The Okinawa Collection Executive Committee has announced the first girls’ fashion festival OKINAWA COLLECTION 2023. The event will be held at Umisora Park in Okinawa on September 24, 2023. The first round of performers has been announced and pre-sale tickets are now available.
The event will be held on the picturesque sandy beaches of Naha, the capital of Okinawa Prefecture. The area is famous for its contributions to entertainment, and the show aims to share current pop culture with both audiences in Japan and the world.

The first batch of performers include Yuina Kogawa, a model and television personality; Nana Kato, an exclusive model for Ray and LARME magazines; Ariana Sakura, an exclusive model for ViVi and a model for many popular brands; Nagomi, who also produces the cosmetics brand "GENTY," and PyunA., an exclusive model for the fashion magazine Koakuma ageha who is set to release her first photo book in August.

Japan’s largest sake event, TOKYO SAKE FESTIVAL 2022, will run from October 4 until October 6 at the Shinjuku Sumitomo Building’s Triangle Square. The event’s aim is to make sake more mainstream around the world, with the first festival taking place in 2020.
