Harajuku’s “Anywhere Door” café is giving out “Harajuku Ringo” (Harajuku Apple) fruit cakes that look just like apples. Available at select cafés in Shizuoka, Sendai and Nagoya, the apple-shaped cakes are completely free to customers who are visiting for celebrations such as birthdays.
Just as the name suggests, the concept of “Anywhere Door” is to become a door that connections Japan to the rest of the world. Their popular “Harajuku Ringo” blew up on Instagram in Europe for its likeness a real apple. The fruit cake is now making a return.
An apple comport is wrapped with mousse made with domestic Japanese ‘Jonathon’ apples. Powdered white chocolate is delicately sprayed onto the surface of the cake to make it look beautiful.
The outside is fluffy, and the inside is thick. Both the look and texture of this authentic treat is something to enjoy.
