Malebranche Kyoto Kitayama have released two new limited-edition original roll cakes made with rich tea at their refurbished branch in Porta, Kyoto.

Okoicha Futomaki
Modest chiffon batter is cooked well on a low heat before being stuffed with generous amounts of rich tea cream and custard to create the thickly rolled Okoicha Futomaki.

Price: \1,112 (w/ tax \1,200)

Okoicha Hosomaki

This product is bite-sized so can even be enjoyed on your own. The thinly rolled Okoicha Hosomaki has a chewy batter smeared with a rich tea sauce and is wrapped delicately with milky white chocolate.

Price: \463 (w/ tax \500)

The two roll cakes are now on sale at the newly revamped Malebranche Porta, an underground shopping center in front of Kyoto Station. They have a line-up of popular fried sweets including the “Chanoka,” a rich tea cat tongue (a type of small cookie) popular in Japan and overseas, “Kyo Sabouret,” and more. The wall panel and stand light inspired by Chanoka are landmarks of the shop.
