The last Vermeer exhibition at the museum was held back in 2008 and brought in 930,000 visitors which was comprised of a large number of non-Japanese people. It’s expected to be busy again this year and so a booking system has been put in place.

The tribute exhibition to be held from October 19 will see a band of contemporary artists inspired by Vermeer’s work come together who will bring out the underlying aspects of Girl with a Pearl Earring in lieu of the immediate visual importance and surface level aspects spread by the media.
