ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION’s New Album Cover Designed by Yusuke Nakamura

ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION have unveiled the artwork for the cover of their upcoming new album Home Town which is set to hit shelves on December 5. The cover is designed by Japanese illustrator Yusuke Nakamura who has designed covers for books and CDs.

The album tracklist has also been announced. It will include their previously-released single Boys & Girls, the track Kouya wo Aruke which serves as the main theme song for the anime movie Night Is Short, Walk On Girl (2017), Clockwork which was written by Rivers Cuomo of American rock band Weezer, American singer-songwriter Butch Walker and ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION’s own Masafumi Goto, Dancing Girlwhich was also written with Cuomo, and more for a total of 10 tracks that can be said to be returning to the band’s music roots of power pop.

 

The album’s First Press Limited Edition comes with an additional CD entitled Can’t Sleep EI which features a total of 5 songs including Sleep written by Goto and Grant Nicholas of Feeder, Haikyo no Kioku which was composed by Atsushi Horie and also features vocals from him, Yellow which is the first song featuring singing from the band’s bassist Takahiro Yamada, and Hajimari no Kisetsu composed by THE CHARM PARK. This edition also features new remixes of Kouya wo ArukeBoys & Girls and Seija no March.

 

The First Press Limited Edition is also coupled with a DVD featuring a documentary that follows the band on the South American leg of their US tour last year.

    ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION will release ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION Tour 2018: Bones & Yams, their 14th live concert DVD and Blu-ray release, on October 31. A trailer for the release dropped on the band's official YouTube channel. Check it out below.  
      The DVD and Blu-ray features footage of the band's concert at Shinkiba Studio Coast taken from their 2018 Bones & Yams tour held across June and July this year. The set-list contains tracks selected by vocalist and guitarist Masafumi Goto from the band's greatest hits albums BEST HIT AKG Official Bootleg "HONE" and BEST HIT AKG Official Bootleg "IMO," meaning fans can expect to enjoy some of the band's famous hidden gems they normally do not play live.   The trailer includes some of the band's hit singles like RIght NowSiren and Re:Re: as well as songs that have rarely been performed live such as Entrance and Yuusetsu.   A special screening of the band's performances of Right NowEntranceKouya wo ArukeSeisha no MarchYoru wo Koete, and Atarashii Sekai from the DVD and Blu-ray will also be shown without cuts at Yunika Vision in Shinjuku for two weeks beginning on October 22 and running until November 4. The footage will be shown six times a day throughout the duration at 10am, 12pm, 2pm, 4pm, 6pm and 8pm. Screening times for November 3 and 4 however are TBA.   Additionally, if you use the Japanese app 'Another Track' while the video is being shown and hold your phone up to Yunika Vision you will be able to access high quality sound from your phone. Wear earphones or headphones of your choice and feel like you're at a real concert in the middle of Shibuya.   ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION will release their new album Hometown on December 5―their first studio album in three-and-a-half years.     Four-piece Japanese rock band ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION have just dropped a music video for their new single Boys & Girls which was released on September 26.   ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION - "Boys & Girls"
    This is their first single in almost a year and a half since Kouya wo Aruke which came out back in March 2017. The song is a cheer for today’s generation which is thread through mid-tempo speed characterised by powerful and surging guitar riffs. The video was directed by Masaki Okita who also directed the band's videos for EasterOpera Glasses and Blood Circulator.   In the music video we see a diverse line-up from today's young generation filled with freedom, energy and positivity. This is coupled with the members of the band wearing bright, natural smiles.     Four-piece Japanese alternative rock band ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION have announces a brand new single titled Boys & Girls for release on September 26. The band released a new artist photo, pictured below, in promotion of the new record. This is their first single since Kouya wo Aruke which came out back in March 2017. The lead track of the new single, also titled Boys & Girls, features lyrics described as cheering on all people of today's generation which thread through a mid-tempo number characterised by powerful and surging guitar riffs. The record also features the song Shukujitsu which was composed by the band's bassist Takahiro Yamada.   The first press limited edition of the single includes a 30-minute DVD featuring a documentary of the band's North America leg of their US tour last year.   The band plan to released their first studio album in three-and-a-half years sometime this year.     ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION has announced that its annual "SUI CUP" live tour, which has been held every year since 2015, will be held for the fifth time this year.     The band also posted a live video of their newest song Kaihouku taken from the concert at Pacifico Yokohama during their "Hometown" tour.   Kaihouku was released as a double A-side single along with the song Dororoーthe opening theme for the anime series of the same nameーlast year on May 15.

    Following their Shu 15 Kan - Tour 2019 Hometown tour that took place earlier this year, ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION released the official performance video on Blu-ray and DVD on December 4 and dropped a teaser on YouTube.  The Hometown tour took place from March to July 2019 to celebrate the release of ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION's tenth studio album.     ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION just released the music video for their new song Kaihouku on YouTube.   "Kaihouku" Music Video
      Kaihouku is one of two tracks on AKFG's new double A-side single Dororo / Kaihouku which was released today (May 15). The song has been performed during the encore at every one of the band's shows on their ongoing "Hometown" tour.   The music video includes 200 extras all of whom are fans of AKFG and help them sing the song. People were asked to sign up to be part of the music video.  
    The music video for Dororo was also released last month so be sure to check that out too. The song is the opening theme for the ongoing anime series Dororo.

    ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION will release their new double A-side single Dororo / Kaihouku on May 15. A music video is being made for the latter song and the band are now recruiting people on their website to sign up to feature as extras.   Shooting will take place at an undisclosed location on April 23 during the day until 19:00. Recruitment is for 200 men and women over the age of 18. Those lucky enough to get a place will feature in the video together with the band. Kaihouku is one of the encore songs being played at the band's ongoing nationwide tour. It has already become one of the band's most important tracks.   Applications close on April 19 at 9:00am (JST), so if you're in Japan this month then don't miss this rare occasion!
  • Dororo Creditless Opening Video Featuring Theme Song by ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION’s Released on YouTube

    The creditless opening video of the TV anime series Dororo has been officially released on YouTube. The song which shares the same name as the series is performed by ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION.  
    Dororo is a manga series by Osamu Tezuka about a rōnin named Hyakkimaru whose father bartered away 48 of his body parts to 48 demons so he could obtain the power to rule the country. The story follows Hyakkimaru who now has fake body parts as he tries to defeat the 48 demons to retrieve his real parts. On the way he meets a young thief called Dororo.   The song will be released as a double A-side single entitled Dororo/Kaihouku on May 15, 2019. It will also receive an early digital release on April 22.   Talking about the song and series, the band made the following statement: "It is a profound and multilayered series that shows satire towards modern society and people behind its setting and old, mysterious story. We put love into making the song so as not to not let down the manga's author Tezuka."
