Kuroneco Jack Sells Sensational Chocolate Gâteau in Kanazawa

07.July.2019 | FOOD / SPOT

Gâteau Chocolat shop Kuroneco Jack just opened this May in Kanazawa, Ishikawa and has already become a sensation.

The shop interior is colourful. The wooden features add warmth to the surroundings, creating a relaxing atmosphere. Although this is a very difficult location to reach if you don’t have a car, the shop is filled with customers every single day.

Every day, the highly experienced patissiers create 12 flavours of cute and delicious gâteau. From standard chocolate to fruit, black sesame and matcha, you can find many rare flavours here.

The standard chocolat JACK is made from 62% cocoa chocolate. The raspberry JACK offers chocoholics the opportunity to enjoy Jack’s luxurious chocolate with a sour touch of fresh raspberries to accent the flavour. Just the aroma of the Black Sesame JACK proves its fantastic quality. There are also many more flavours on sale that you just won’t be able to resist.

If you pop by the shop, you should also check out the popular parfait menu that consists of three fruity parfaits. Just looking at them will make your mouth water. Of course, Jack’s chocolate is also used in the parfaits. The SHIRONECO Parfait uses a white chocolate base, whilst the KURONECO Parfait uses a dark chocolate base. There is also the DORANECO parfait, which is completely left in the chef’s hands to do as they please.

There is also original soft serve ice cream, gâteau chocolat with brûlée, cheesecake and many more fusion desserts that are sold as part of the INTO Series. I know everything looks so delicious you will not be able to decide, but if you ever find yourself in Kanazawa, please pop by.

  • Kaori’s Easy Recipe: Learn to Make Miffy Parfait Using Tofu!

    08.September.2021 | FEATURES / FOOD

With just a small bit of ingenuity, turn everyday food into something cute using Kaori’s Easy Recipe! With a few simple ideas, an ordinary recipe magically transforms into a cute dish.

In this recipe, I’ll show you how to make an adorable Miffy Parfait using tofu shiratama!

Tofu shiratama can be frozen without hardening, so it’s great to use for cooking as well as making sweets.

    Ingredients

    250g refined rice flour

    300g silken tofu

✩ This is about 1 bag of refined rice flour and 1 piece of silken tofu.

Canned fruit or fruit of your choice

Put the refined rice flour and silken tofu into a bowl and mix well.

⚠️ Do not drain the tofu!

Don’t add water, just these two ingredients.

✩I knead all ingredients and then freeze it.

Feel free to freeze it as dough, or boil it first.

You can put them in Tupperware and store them in water in the refrigerator for a day or two. Don’t worry, they won’t harden!

    Add the coloring.

Take a little bit of food coloring and add as you like.

Here, I’m adding the yellow that will be the center of the flower.

After mixing the dough, place it on parchment paper and put it in the freezer for about 30 minutes.

You can shape it before placing it in the freezer, but chilling it will make it easier to work with.

Cut out Miffy and her flowers.

Place the yellow-colored piece into the middle of the flower.

Roll the rest of the shiratama into balls.

Boil the shaped shiratama while on the baking sheet.

Boil the round shiratama as well. When they float to the top, place them in cool water.

Place the shaped shiratama on parchment paper or plastic wrap and let dry briefly before adding decoration.

Mix black cocoa with a little water, and using the mixture, draw Miffy’s face.

Place the flowers and shiratama balls inside the glass, follow up with your favorite fruits!

(If using canned fruit, feel free to add the syrup as well!)

I hope you enjoy decorating this colorful dish!

  • Mister Donut Releases Sweet Potato Treats for Autumn

    31.August.2021 | FOOD

To ring in the fall season, Mister Donut shops across Japan are now offering five different sweet potato donuts. The scrumptious sweets will be available until the end of November.

    Honey Sweet Potato Donut

Honey Sweet Potato with Butter Donut

    Purple Sweet Potato Donut

    Candied Sweet Potato Donut

    Sweet Potato Donut

The final donut on the list, the Sweet Potato Donut, doesn’t refer to a typical sweet potato in Japanese, but instead to a popular sweet potato cake. It’s topped with sweet potato cream and black sesame.

These sweet potato themed treats have been available for the past three years, and continue to please customers with their simple taste and texture. Each pastry is kneaded with specific types of sweet potato powder, to give it a signature flavor and feel.

New additions to this year’s lineup include the Honey Sweet Potato Donut and the Honey Sweet Potato with Butter Donut. By soaking the dough used for these treats in syrup, each bite provides a burst of sweetness while also keeping the texture of a freshly-cooked autumn potato. The Butter Donut is oven-baked with a salted butter-flavored filling.

The Purple Sweet Potato, Candied Sweet Potato, and Sweet Potato Donuts from last year are all making a comeback after immense popularity. Which one would you try first?
