An exhibition centred around Andy Warhol, the American artist who was at the forefront of the pop art movement, is set to roll up to the Kyocera Museum of Art in Kyoto on September 19, 2020.
The exhibition will showcase pieces available only at the The Andy Warhol Museum in Pennsylvania, US. It will be the first Andy Warhol exhibition of its kind to hit Japan and will also touch on his deep knowledge of Kyoto.
The exhibition will be the first to take place in the museum’s new Toyama Cube building which is currently under construction.

teamLab Planets is a museum in Tokyo’s Toyosu area that will celebrate one year since opening on July 7. At this museum, visitors move through water and traverse its four vast exhibition spaces.
The museum is set to showcase its new digital art piece Drawing on the Water Surface Created by the Dance of Koi and People – Infinity for a limited time from July 7 to 21. Koi swim on the surface of the water that stretches to an infinite horizon. The koi fish are influenced by the movement of people in the water and turn into flowers when they collide.
As well as this, the museum will serve up new summertime foods at its restaurant The Bowl Steakhouse, where it will serve shaved ice, and its food stand Everything Is In Your Hand, where it will sell sandwich wraps.

The exhibition will feature a range of mediums including sculptures, paintings, textiles, ceramics, metalwork and more.

Kyoto’s Shinto Shrine Iwashimizu Hachimangu Announces Light-Up Event

Iwashimizu Hachimangu, a Shinto Shrine in Yawata, Kyoto, has announced that a 5-day light-up event will take place from February 10 to 14 at the site’s main shrine which is listed as a national treasure of Japan.
Following government guidelines in response to COVID-19, the event will feature LED illuminations, glowing exhibits from craftsmen, lights made by locals from materials such as bamboo, and more, all in the hopes of creating a bit of evening-time sightseeing in the area. The event will also be streamed live online for those unable to attend where viewers can also enjoy watching ceremonial dance by shrine maidens.

Tokyo Ghoul Author Sui Ishida’s Tokyo Exhibition Reveals Key Visual

Sui Ishida, the author of the internationally celebrated manga series Tokyo Ghoul which has shipped over 44 million copies worldwide, is getting his first ever large-scale exhibition next year. Titled “Sui Ishida Exhibition [Tokyo Ghoul JACK JEANNE],” the event is set to take place at Sunshine City in Ikebukuro, Tokyo from February 6, 2021 to March 7, 2021 before moving to Fukuoka Asian Art Museum on April 10 where it will run until May 16.
The first key visual for the event has been unveiled which Ishida drew himself for the exhibition. It features the protagonist of his Tokyo Ghoul series Ken Kaneki as well as Kisa Tachibana from his upcoming game JACK JEANNE.
The exhibition is a place to discover all things Sui Ishida and will focus on his career from zero to the spawn Tokyo Ghoul and his upcoming game Nintendo Switch title JACK JEANNE which he designed the characters, created the storyline, illustrations and scenarios for. There will be a range of exhibits, illustrations, and more to see.
Pre-sale tickets to the exhibition were released on Thursday (December 10) via the official websitw. The exhibition will be carrying out capacity restrictions each day in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kamo Dashi Chuka Soba ROKU is a new ramen restaurant set to open at GOOD NATURE STATION, a shopping facility in Kyoto, on December 12, 2020.
The restaurant is produced by Yuki Iwasaki, a chef at VELROSIER which acquired its first Michelin Star in Michelin Guide 2021 Kyoto, Osaka & Okayama. It will serve ramen in a variety of duck-flavoured dashi broths made with duck from Kyoto and France.

Duck Shiro Tanmen | ¥1,000ROKU will initially offer three types of ramen dishes which includes the two pictured above as well as a special served each season. The Duck Sei Tanmen uses a broth made from a blend of duck meats and has a distinctly refreshing yet rich taste. The Duck Shiro Tanmen uses the same broth but adds chicken to the base together with mayu burnt garlic oil. The restaurant also makes its own thick noodles to enjoy with the soup. No tare sauce is used, allowing for customers to enjoy the umami flavour of the dashi and the various ingredients added.
The ramen bowls used are original wares created by TOKINOHA, a Japanese crockery brand specialising in traditional Kiyomizu ware which are perfect for enjoying your ramen.

Online Shonen Jump Festival ‘Jump Festa 2021’ Opens App Download and Announces Schedule

Shueisha announced last month that JUMP magazine’s annual festival JUMP Festa is heading online for ‘Jump Festa 2021 ONLINE’ which will run from December 19, 2020 to December 20, 2020. The application needed to access the festival was finally made available on Wednesday (December 9), as was the timetable.

The festival can be attended either by download the Jump Festa 2021 ONLINE app (ジャンプフェスタ2021 ONLINE) or by going on the event’s official website. However, certain content is restricted on the website. The festival takes place on Jump Festa Island, a virtual space where visitors can access content related to Jump-related media from the free-to-access library to the theatre, an online shop, and more. There’s also a zoo area, photo spots, and mini games. If visitors use the ‘attend with a friend’ function or chat function, they can also take a special commemorative photo as well as watch the stage performances.

Jump Festa is a celebration of five manga magazine publications by Shueisha: Weekly Shonen Jump, Shonen Jump+, V Jump, Jump SQ., and Saikyo Jump. Each of the five publications have had 22 of their own original characters drawn with original artwork for this online event which people can use as their avatar to roam around Jump Festa Island.

The splendid Yuushien Garden in Matsue, Shimane, is now hosting a dazzling winter illumination event titled Kogane no Shima Zipang 2020 (Golden Island Zipang 2020) until January 11, 2021.

Yuushien Garden is located on the eastern side of Matsue on Daikon Island, a volcanic island in Nakaumi. The garden has been called the most beautiful Japanese-style garden in all of Japan, which makes it the perfect setting for the illumination event. 50 projectors at the garden are using projection mapping to create a flurry of flashy illuminations.
It’s a full pixel illumination display coupled with music that’s sure to dazzle all who visit. this winter.
