08.December.2019 | FASHION / FOOD / SPOT

It has been announced that the ongoing construction work at Tokyo Disneyland is set to complete next year, with the fully overhauled areas and facilities reopening on April 15, 2020. The park has revealed details on the works as well as provided news and information on the new shows, merchandise and food menus.

Fantasyland

Beauty and the Beast Area

The highly-anticipated Beauty and the Beast area is finally set to open. The site recreates various memorable locations from the Disney film, including the town where Belle lives to the forest where Beast’s castle lies.

As guests pass through the village and into the forest they will arrive at the grand castle, inside which they can experience the new attraction “Beauty and the Beast: A Tale of Magic.”

Upper Left: Glass Set ¥2,600 / Upper Centre: Mug ¥1,500 / Lower Middle: Plate Set – ¥2,900 / Right: Pouch ¥3,000

Upper Left: Stainless Mug ¥2,600 / Lower Left: Toothbrush Set ¥1,700 / Right: Cushion ¥2,300

In the village shops, guests will find themselves spoiled for choice with around 100 pieces of exclusive merchandise to get their hands on. This includes a mug and plate set featuring a romantic scene of Belle and Beast dancing with the castle in the background, a glasses stand inspired by the handsome Gaston, and more.

Roll up to La Taverne de Gaston, a restaurant with counter service that’s based on Gaston’s bar and seats around 200.

Big Bite Croissant Set – ¥1,140 (¥750 on its own)

French Toast Sandwich Set – ¥1,140 (¥750 on its own)

Berry Cheers – ¥450

The restaurant boasts a lavish and sophisticated line-up that meets Gaston’s standards, including a croissant stuffed with a sausage on the bone, sweet and salty cheese French toast, a soft drink inspired by beer―Gaston’s favourite―and more.

Fantasyland Forest Theatre

At the heart of Fantasyland, hidden away in the middle of a fairy tale-like forest, is Tokyo Disneyland’s first proper indoor theatre.

The outside of theatre features a warm and welcoming appearance, and the inside features forest-like design with pillars that look like they are made of trees and a chandelier lit by candlelight. The theatre is also decorated with beautiful tapestries and wall art of the many forest animals that appear throughout Disney’s filmography.

It will also see the showing of the all-new show “Mickey’s Magical Music World.” Disney fans can pick up plush toys, pin badges and more featuring designs taken from the show.

Tomorrowland

Baymax’s Happy Ride

Tomorrowland will see the opening of the world’s first Big Hero 6 themed ride.

Big Pop

Just next to Baymax’s Happy Ride will be Tokyo Disneyland’s first-ever popcorn shop, Big Pop, which has a space-themed design fitting for Tomorrowland. Gaze up at the ceiling and see a starry night sky, as well as a chandelier that looks like giant popcorn and is based on the Big Bang.

Enjoy three flavours of popcorn or a mix of flavours. Pick up a popcorn basket and serve yourself. Flavours include Cookie Cream (the first time the park has sold this flavour), Caramel & Cheese, and Strawberry Milk. All of them are deliciously rich in flavour and smell, and they’re all mushroom-shaped.

Toontown

Minnie’s Style Studio

Minnie’s Style Studio will be Tokyo Disneyland’s first facility built specifically for meeting Minnie Mouse. Minnie, who is a fashion designer working internationally, will greet guests wearing different outfits coordinated to the current season. As the name suggests, it’s a studio, and will be decked out with costume designs and more. You’ll know it when you see the ribbon decorated with giant polka dots.

Special merchandise will also be sold based on the four costumes for each of the four seasons. In spring, there’ll also be headbands, badges, and more.

Special Merchandise

Around 130 pieces of new merchandise with two different designs will be sold, most of which are centred around the four new facilities opening.

Greeting Card ¥1,000 / Pocket Tissues ¥2,200 / Key Chains ¥1300 Each

The first design, making up around 90 of the items, feature a jolly Mickey Mouse excited about the four new places.

The other design, making up the remaining 40 or so pieces of merchandise, features logos of each facility and includes items such as t-shirts, caps, and other wearable goods.

The Disney Hotel and Disney Resort Line also have some special things planned too. Check out the official website for more details.

  • The Fairy Godmother Waves her Wand to Transform Tokyo Disney Resort for Christmas

    21.November.2019 | FEATURES / FOOD / SPOT

Disney magic flows through the veins of Disney Resort throughout the year. However, when the clock strikes Christmas time, the entire resort transforms for Disney Christmas: the annual event where the streets sparkle the most compared to any other yearly event.

With Christmas just over the horizon, the Fairy Godmother waved her magic wand over all areas of the park ー including the hotels. This year, a whole load of delicious Christmassy afternoon tea dishes have poofed onto the menu at Disney Ambassador Hotel’s Hyperion Lounge. Today, we’ll be looking at a few.

    Disney Christmas Cake Set: ¥1,800

The Hyperion Lounge’s Disney Christmas Cake Set is shaped like a wreath and is garnished with your favourite Disney characters.

The wreath, which is sat on a bed of chocolate mousse, is woven from pistachio dough that is full of flavour and soft mousse. The sweet tanginess of the raspberry and cherries mixes with the sweet chocolate for a refreshing flavour that will fill your mouth. It is just too cute to eat.

Disney Christmas Special Drink: ¥1,300 *with Drink Coaster

The Christmas Special Drink is an iced tea coloured with a raspberry and strawberry syrup. Above the syrup is a mixture of milk tea and peach juice which will send a fruity scent floating to your nose. Mix the syrup with the milk tea thoroughly for a magical flavour adventure. Mixing the drink will turn it a cute light pink colour, too.

Two yellow chocolate stars shine in the middle of the drink. Can you spot them?

This drink was created to look just like Santa Claus and the two stars represent the buttons on his clothes.

This drink comes with a free original coaster, however, the coasters are in limited supply. Many restaurants around the resort are serving up special drinks which come with a free Disney Christmas coaster. The design available at Hyperion Lounge is Mini Mouse. Try collecting them for an extra special Disney Christmas.

Collect all the drink coasters and put them together for a Disney Christmas masterpiece!

Whether inside the park or not, Tokyo Disney Resort never fails to make our hearts race with excitement. If you’re staying at the resort, don’t miss out on the restaurant’s irresistible Christmas drinks and desserts.

Today we’ll be focussing on the It’s Very Minnie! show.

Presented at Showbase, It’s Very Minnie! is a musical revue show featuring Minnie Mouse and her Disney friends. The show is a mixture of Latin music, romance and even club scenes. As Minnie and friends dance rhythmically to the music, their colourful costumes colour the stage in a variety of styles. Each show lasts approximately 25 minutes.

Minnie dances in a classic red and white polka dot outfit. Her performance to Minnie Oh Minnie will have you singing along in no time.

As the lively music kicked in, Donald, Chip and Dale took to the stage in their Latin costumes.

As the music was constantly switching, the characters and dancers changed costumes at lightning speed.

Finally, Mickey and Minnie danced together. Just watching the couple dance will warm your heart.

Seeing Minnie in a beautiful pink dress, the crowd couldn’t help but scream “so cute!”

The show was a mix of the park’s many nostalgic tunes and Minnie in her many adorable outfits. From the very moment the intro played and Minnie’s figure appeared, fans instantly went wild. Watching fans chant their love for Minnie was very touching to see.

The timing of the dancers and characters was perfect. They even got down from the stage to interact with the audience, who were singing and clapping along to the music with excitement.

Some songs and costumes in the show were even having their debut. The stage was buzzing with so much excitement that it was impossible to look away.

Just watching Minnie’s variety of expressions will make you fall in love with her even more. You will want to go see her again and again. This is one of the best shows in history that Disneyland has ever put on.

Whether you’re a Minnie fan or not, anybody is bound to enjoy this fun-filled show.

  • Experience Tokyo Disneyland’s Magical Christmas Parade & Decorations

    12.November.2019 | FEATURES / SPOT

Jolly faces are all around at Tokyo Disney Resort right now as Disney Christmas kicked off last Friday. It’s set to sleigh its way up to Christmas Day this year.

The editorial team at MOSHI MOSHI NIPPON jumped ahead and got to experience all of the festive fun taking place at Tokyo Disneyland parks, so we’re going to showcase some of the magical events taking place this year.

Disney characters dress up for the amazing Christmas parade

If you’re visiting Tokyo Disneyland this year, the one event you absolutely have to check out the Disney Christmas Stories parade, where Mickey and company, as well as characters from various Disney Pixar films like Frozen and Toy Story, all arrive on Christmas floats.

All of the floats and themed on the films they appear in. For example, Lilo and Stitch ride a Hawaii Christmas boat, while Donald and Daisy have their own boat decked out with Christmas decorations.

The floats will stop before the crowd, and that’s when the dancing begins! Mickey, Minnie, Chip and Dale begin the dancing in front of Cinderella’s castle. All of the Christmas-clad characters and dancers invite guests to join in with dancing.

Once the dancing stops, the floats begin to move again, and snow falls all around the guests, plunging them into a White Christmas. The parade is truly magical at this point as the snow dances through the air. What could be better than celebrating Christmas than with your favourite Disney character at Tokyo Disneyland?

Gaze up at the 15-meter tall Christmas tree

The first thing to catch your eye if you walk towards the World Bazaar from the entrance is the towering Christmas tree which stands 15 meters high. At night, they turn the Christmas lights on, glow beautifully with the other visuals shining in the area. Here you’ll truly feel like you’ve been transported to a Christmas land as you’re wrapped in the warm lights of the illuminations and lulled by the music.

Photo opportunities with your favourite characters

In front of the Cinderella castle you’ll find multiple photo spots with statues of Disney characters. There are photographers there ready to take guests’ photos for them, so be sure to dress in your Christmas best to snap a memorable picture with the Disney cast. If you buy the photo, you’ll also receive a Christmas illustration and other goodies.

You can really feel the Christmas spirit at Tokyo Disneyland simply by walking through the park. Don’t miss this year’s Disney Christmas, and be sure to invite friends, family and loved ones along for the ride.
