Tokyo Neko Neko: Cat Shaped Desserts and Pastries Served at Ginza’s New Bakery

ALL HEARTS COMPANY, a Japanese company that develops bakeries and patisseries across Japan, opened its new bakery and confectionery shop Tokyo Neko Neko in Ginza, Tokyo on July 22, 2020. The shop has replaced Heart Bread ANTIQUE, another bakery also run by ALL HEARTS COMPANY, which was previously at this location.

At Tokyo Neko Neko, they are serving cat-shaped pastries and desserts including Tokyo-exclusive products from their Neko Neko Bread brand and Neko Neko Cheesecake shop. This is the second branch to open following the opening of Kyoto Neko Neko last month.

 

A stylish bakery


Tokyo Neko Neko’s pastries and interior design takes on a completely different look from Kyoto Neko Neko, with the walls acting as a canvas to display their food like an art museum. The bakery’s line-up centres on seeing as well as eating, adding an extra level of deliciousness to the products. If you’ve visiting Tokyo, you don’t want to pass up on the opportunity to visit Tokyo Neko Neko.

 

Tokyo Neko Neko Bread

Tokyo Neko Neko’s cat-shaped bread is palm-sized and so is a perfect gift and takeaway snack. The outside is crunchy while the middle is kept nice and moist. The secret behind the bread’s tastiness is the use of fermented butter which they get from France. The use of lots of almond cream adds a tasty kick too.

    Hitobito, the company behind Japan’s popular bakery cafe chain Bread, Espresso &, is set to open a new branch inside Makita General Hospital in Kamata on March 1. The cafe opened its doors for pre-openings earlier this month with shortened business hours.

     

    Bread, Espresso & has 20 branches across Japan including the popular one located in Omotesando, Tokyo. Its frequented by people of all ages for its deliciously soft bread made from 100% Japanese wheat.

    The cafe’s picture book-like interior design caters to children featuring bread-shaped tables and cute illustrations.


    Customers are welcome to try out the free samples on display. Each sample has a little card detailing various information which customers can take to the register if they want to buy that item. Often in Japanese bakeries there are tongs and trays which customers are free to use, but this new style of service lessens contact with others for a safer trip during the pandemic.

    The bakery serves Bread, Espresso & classics like French toast and their mu pastries, as well as alternatives like gluten-free breads, no-sugar treats, and more.

  • Tokyo Nightlife Beckons With Tokyo Tower’s NAKED SAUNA & SPA

    It’s time to strip down and relax as Japanese company NAKED announces that its ‘NAKED NIGHT SAUNA’ event, which is being held as part of its ‘NAKED SAUNA & SPA’ project, will take place atop Tokyo Tower from March 12 to 14. Visitors will also receive a relaxation drink called ‘CHILL OUT’ in collaboration with Endian.

    NAKED SAUNA & SPA is a sauna project launched by NAKED in November 2020 to promote equilibrium of the senses. The first event was held in the village of Achi in Nagano Prefecture which is known for being Japan’s best location for enjoying the starry night sky. The second event was themed around the concept ‘Art of Meditation.’ It was held in Ariake and had visitors becoming one with nature as they sat under the expanse of Tokyo’s night sky to enjoy every gleaming speck that twinkled above them. It was an opportunity for busy city workers to reset and recalibrate.

    Now, the project is set to host its third event in collaboration with Tokyo Tower. Visitors can enjoy towering above the capital’s city streets as they enjoy a sauna experience inside exclusive tents. It will be a fusion of analogue and technology as people enjoy sitting by the fire, smoking shisha, and gazing at mist that will be pumped and illuminations that will be lit to create atmosphere. Of course, this entire event will be held in accordance with government guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Social distancing will be enforced which will include a drive-through system so you don’t come into contact with people, and all visitors will have their own tents (groups of 4 max), and all tent saunas will be separated with partitions.

    The tent saunas that will be used are MORZH SKY, a type of tent with a transparent roof made by the Russian tent company MORZH. They are provided by Sauna Camp.Inc. The tents are fitted with a stove and chimney so visitors can adjust the temperature to their liking.

     

    To attend the event, you must register to the Facebook online community NAKED SAUNA CLUB and fill out the form that will be made available there on March 1 and 2. A select number of visitors will be chosen at random on March 3 and winners will be contacted directly on March 4 with further instructions.

  • Sailor Moon Eternal’s Second Anime Film Promoted With Luna Shaped Bread

    Japanese bakery Neko Neko Shokupan is promoting the release of the second in the two-part anime film series Sailor Moon Eternal by baking up a bread inspired by everyone’s favourite feline: Luna. The bread will be sold from February 11 to March 25.

    The bread is made of pastry laced with black cocoa powder. Luna’s ears are strawberry flavoured and she  of course has her iconic crescent moon atop her forehead. She arrives safely packaged in a cube-shaped box decorated in night sky stars and the moon. This box is placed in an eye-catching bag with little Sailor Moon details that are sure to be familiar to any fan, including Luna herself as well as Artemis.

     

    The bread is available in-store at Neko Neko Shokupan branches and via the online store All Hearts Mall in Japan

  • Baumkuchen Served Hot at Your Home Baked Up by Nenrinya

    Japanese bakery and confectionery company Nenrinya is releasing a takeout baumkuchen dessert which can be warmed up at home. The baumkuchen was released at Nenrinya’s JR Shinagawa Station branch on Monday (February 1) and will be released at their Daimaru Tokyo and Sogo Yokohama branches on February 16.

    To heat up, you simply microwave it for 30 seconds at 500W. This leaves the inside moist and adds a crunch to the outside, all while helping to emit the sumptuous smell of that butter. It goes perfect with a cup of coffee, tea, or milk. Customise by adding some whipped cream or pour some melted chocolate over.

  • Yokohama Welcomes Products and Souvenirs From Ise at the New ISE SHOP

    Tama Plaza Terrace, a shopping centre in Yokohama, opened a limited-time pop-up shop on Tuesday (February 9) called ISE SHOP which is selling goods and products from Japan’s city of Ise.

    The shop opened in response to the reduction of sales of foodstuff, traditional handicrafts, and more in Ise due to the pandemic. Ise is known for its bounty of diverse products, and so this is a way to continue supporting it. Free tourist pamphlets are also being handed out detailing information about the city’s wonders.

    The store is a showcase of Ise’s history, traditional, and food culture. Shoppers will find staple souvenir items like Ise udon, sea lettuce, hijiki seaweed, pearls, and more. Other touches of Ise include a popular hand cream made with water drawn from the Isuzu River, a fragrance mist also made from the same water, all-new cosmetic items, cookies inspired by the oshiraishi stones spread over the most holy part of Ise Grand Shrine—the list goes on. 58 Ise-based businesses are stocking around 100 products inside the store, so it’s a must-visit for anyone interested in the ancient city.
