McDonald’s Japan Releases Pikachu Desserts
Mc Donald’s Japan released its new Sweets Trio Fruchu menu on Friday which features a line-up of three fruit-flavoured Pikachu items: the Yellow Peach McShake, Chocolate Banana McFlurry, and Hot Apple Custard Pie.
The menu items comes in limited-edition cups and packaging featuring the adorable Pikachu.
Yellow Peach McShake | Small ¥120 – Regular ¥200 (Tax Included)
A fruity and refreshing summery McShake made with sweet and sour yellow peach with that satisfying creamy McShake texture. Available in small and medium, both sizes come with three different cup designs each for a total of six.
Chocolate Banana McFlurry | ¥290 (Tax Included)
The Chocolate Banana McFlurry is served in an ice cream cup with a fresh squirt of milky rich soft serve and drizzled with banana and chocolate sauces. The ice cream is finished with a sprinkle of crunchy yellow cornflakes. Another perfect choice for cooling down in the hot summer weather. There are three possible cup designs to receive.

The apple custard pie is served hot with a crunchy outside and filled with custard cream made with fresh apple and vanilla beans and seasoned with caramel and cinnamon. There are three possible packaging designs to receive.
McDonald’s Japan is also serving a Pikachu-style Happy Meal as part of the collaboration which come with one of six possible toys.

Japanese socks specialist Tabio has launched its second collection in collaboration with Toga, a Japanese fashion brand created by fashion designer Yasuko Furuta.
The collection consists of four different types of socks that combine Tabio’s technology with TOGA’s elements, including socks with the same patterns as TOGA’s garments and sheer socks that sold out immediately last time. The socks are presented in a special package that makes them the perfect winter gift. You can purchase them at the official online store and other limited edition Tabio stores.

Two New Tracks Produced by Yaffle Released for Pokemon 25th Anniversary
On Pokemon Day, February 27, 2021, the music program P25 Music was launched with ‘P25 Music Presents: Post Malone Virtual Concert Experience.’ Last month, ‘Pokemon 25: The Album’ was released featuring top musical artists from around the world celebrating the anniversary of the beloved series. Now, two songs produced by Yaffle, who represented Japan in the project, have been released as downloadable singles.
The single ‘Reconnect/Grown’ features four tracks and includes ‘Reconnect,’ sung in English by Daichi Yamamoto and AAAMYYY, and ‘Grown,’ sung in Japanese by sorane and Yama, as well as instrumental tracks. The two songs sample sounds from Pokemon games, including the opening music for Pokemon Red and Green. The songs Reconnect and Grown were also named with Red and Green in mind.
The Japanese version of the Pokemon 25th-anniversary album comes with a poster-type booklet and original Pikachu sticker in first-edition releases. Those buying the album can also get postcards at participating CD shops and clear folders from the online Universal Music Store.
Those buying the CD from a Pokemon Center in Japan can get an original pin (4 varieties, random) while supplies last.

I’m from the Red and Green generation. I remember borrowing my aunt’s Game Boy and the first game I ever played was Pokemon. When the game came out it was super popular at school, and I made so many friends bonding over it. We used link cables to battle each other, and people would line up to ask the skilled players what strategies they used.
I was so happy and deeply moved when this offer came in. There were times when I would trip myself up worrying about how best to express my feelings, but I think the end result is amazing. I wanted to sample sounds from the original Pokemon game soundtrack, so I just listened to it over and over and let myself follow wherever it led. This was the first time for me to create two tracks with the same theme in two different languages. It was tough, but I think these are two of my best works.
I’m not a singer, so I had to think about how best to convey my emotions through sounds using other artists. Reconnect and Grown both have the same starting point and the same goal, but different stories. I hope you can listen to both while thinking about that.
Cardcaptor Sakura and Sanrio Collaborate on New Collection
A new collection of goods featuring Sakura Kinomoto and popular Sanrio characters is here! The collection features everyone’s favorite magical girl combined with beloved characters such as Hello Kitty, My Melody Pompompurin, Cinnamoroll, and Kuromi.
The Cardcaptor Sakura manga series was serialized from 1996 until 2000 in the monthly girls’ manga magazine Nakayoshi. In 2016, a new version of the series was released titled Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card and the magical girl series is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2021. An anime series aired from 1998 to 2000, with a Clear Card adaptation airing in 2018.
This is the second collaboration between Sanrio and Cardcaptor Sakura, with the first coming in 2018 with Little Twin Stars. In these collaboration designs, each Sanrio character wears costumes made by Sakura’s best friend Tomoyo, and Sakura wears a special costume with Hello Kitty and My Melody ears. One of these designs is only available at official Sanrio stores.

A Tachikoma From Ghost in the Shell SAC_2045 Arrives at New Balance Harajuku
As a part of the brand’s 9BOX series, New Balance has released a new graphic T-shirt collection in collaboration with Ghost in the Shell SAC_2045. The items went on sale November 12, and to commemorate the release, a Tachikoma from the series has arrived at New Balance Harajuku! For those who may not have seen the series, a Tachikoma is an AI tank prominently featured in the Ghost in the Shell universe.
Long Sleeve T-Shirt
Motoko Kusanagi, the main character of the series, perfectly exemplifies the New Balance brand, which promotes ‘fearless independence.’ Five new t-shirt designs are now available, all drawn by Ilya Kuvshinov, the character designer for Ghost in the Shell SAC-2045. The collection is available at official New Balance stores nationwide, as well as the online store and participating ABC Marts. Those who purchase items from the collection will receive a collaboration sticker, and a special picture frame will be available on the New Balance official store app NB Shop.

McDonald’s Japan will be offering up a particularly tasty treat for the winter holidays! Starting November 24, the chain will release the Strawberry Creme Brulee Frappuccino for a limited time at stores featuring a McCafe by Barista corner. These locations employ full-time baristas serving ‘authentic cafe coffee.’
McCafe by Barista invites guests to enjoy high-quality frappuccinos and smoothies, and this winter, there are plenty of dessert-like additions to the menu. This Strawberry Creme Brulee Frappuccino is the first in the new lineup, combining strawberries and the annual winter staple, the Creme Brulee Frappuccino.

Tomo Koizumi is one of Japan’s most popular up-and-coming young designers. At a young age, he began creating custom outfits for his female friends, and eventually, the editor of Vogue Italia Sara Maino posted an image of his incredible work on Instagram, netting him instant fame. Now, the creator is collaborating with Marc Jacobs on a Japan-only collection scheduled to be released on November 17, 2021.
At the 2019 New York Fashion Week, Koizumi was invited by Marc Jacobs to show his designs at the Marc Jacobs Madison Avenue store. The designer is known for his experimental and unique approach to clothing, always managing to shock audiences. This new collaboration will feature a number of colorful pieces featuring the signature stylings of Marc Jacob with Tomo Koizumi’s incredible ruffles. To celebrate this new limited-edition collab, Koizumi himself appears in many of the campaign images. Actress Yumi Adachi will also appear as a model.
Marc Jacobs’ iconic bag ‘The Snapshot’ serves as the centerpiece of the collection, along with plenty of ruffles and hairbands. A special series of one-of-a-kind garments handcrafted from scrap stock fabrics laying around in Jacobs’ atelier will be sold in limited quantities.

Four New Pokemon Manhole Covers Appear in Katori City, Chiba Prefecture
On November 10, 2021, four new Pokemon-themed manhole covers were unveiled in Katori City, Chiba prefecture. These will be the first appearance of the Poke Lids project in both the city and prefecture and each will feature landscapes specific to the area. Pokemon featured in these new covers include Galarian Farfetch’d, Falinks, Florges, and Lotad.
The Poke Lids project features completely original art, and each serves as a PokeStop in the mobile game Pokemon GO. Many are located in smaller towns and areas, and this has brought more tourism and attention to some of Japan’s more charming hidden gems. Going on a pilgrimage to visit these locations has become a popular new fad, so be sure to try it out once Japan opens!
