Mystery Solving Meets Art in New Blue Period Escape Game

SCRAP, known for its immersive escape rooms based on tons of popular anime, manga, and game properties, is inviting fans of the Blue Period manga series to participate in a new escape game! The Blue Period ‘Escape from the Art College Entrance Exam’ event will begin on July 15 in Tokyo. 

 

The hands-on event will invite participants to use art materials to solve a number of riddles and puzzles while exploring the event space. The player will become a student at the Tokyo University of the Arts, the school that the main character Yatora Yaguchi seeks to attend.

 

Tickets to the event can be purchased in advance or on the same day on-site. There is no time limit, no limit on the number of participants, and plenty of hints if you need them, so escape room novices can have a great time as well!

 

At the event, players will also be able to communicate with the characters via LINE, have individual interviews with Yatora’s teacher Ms. Oba, and actually use art materials. Come immerse yourself in the world of Blue Period!

    Real Escape Games invite guests to become the main character in their own story as they solve riddles and explore unique stories. Tokyo Mystery Circus, the world’s first and largest ‘mystery’ theme park, will start its collaboration with Demon Slayer: Mugen Train on October 27, 2022. The event will run until January 24, 2023.    To celebrate the start of this highly-anticipated event, three original food items will also be available. Guests can enjoy Enmu’s Cocoa Milk, a tasty Tsubuan roll, and a hot dog inspired by Tanjiro’s Hinokami Kagura. The original menu items will be sold exclusively at Tokyo Mystery Circus during the event period.   • Demon Slayer: Mugen Train Inspires Escape Room This Fall

    Tokyo Mystery Circus, a micro-theme park in Shinjuku, has announced a new escape game in collaboration with the wildly popular Demon Slayer: Mugen Train. From October 27, 2022, until January 24, 2023, fans will be invited to participate in this exciting and challenging event inspired by the series’ story.   Players will be locked inside a room designed to perfectly resemble the Mugen Train and must work together to escape.The story explains that each player is a member of the Demon Slayer Corps. After boarding the Mugen Train, they suddenly fall asleep, only waking up to find that Tanjiro and Rengoku are facing off against Emma.  Guests will need to hurry up and solve a series of difficult puzzles to help defeat the demon and escape the train before it’s too late.The game also includes tons of effects and gimmicks from the Demon Slayer series, such as actually getting tickets to board the Mugen Train. Guests can also wield their own swords to take on the baddies.Tickets will be available for preorder starting August 27 at 12:00. Limited event goods and food items will also be available for purchase.     Story

    You’re a member of the Demon Slayer Corps. Following orders, you board the Mugen Train towards your next duty. After the conductor hands you your ticket, you suddenly fall asleep. Apparently, this was the work of Emmu’s Blood Demon Art. When you wake, you see Tanjiro and the Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku. And then, the fearsome Emmu materializes before you… It’s up to you to help Tanjiro and Rengoku defeat the demons and escape the Mugen Train! *The above images are samples.   • Luxury Brand Burberry Collaborates with Manga Series Blue Period on Original Story

    Burberry has announced a collaboration with the popular art manga Blue Period! The unlikely pair will team up on an original story featuring a new character Lola, who is an anthropomorphic version of Burberry’s iconic Lola bag designed by Riccardo Tisci. This original story booklet will be gifted exclusively to visitors to Burberry stores nationwide starting August 20, 2022. Fans can also enjoy the digital version on Burberry.com.

    This story depicts the emotional journey of Yatoria Yaguchi and Ryuji Ayukawa as they meet and are progressively more influenced by Lola. Hachitaro is inspired by Lola's boldness, inner strength, purity, and free self-expression, and is inspired to free himself from everything external and internal holding him back.   To commemorate this partnership, a special wallpaper featuring an illustration by Tsubasa Yamaguchi, the author of Blue Period, will be available exclusively from Burberry's official LINE account starting on the first day of the collab.   • Blue Period Exhibition Showcases Art from Students Across Japan

    Blue Period Exhibition ~Art is a gift?~ will run from June 18 until September 27, 2022, at Tokyo’s Warehouse TERRADA G1 Building. The manga series, written and illustrated by Tsubasa Yamaguchi, has been serialized in Kodansha’s seinen manga magazine Monthly Afternoon since June 2017.   Blue Period follows Yatora Yaguchi, an aspiring painter trying to get into the Tokyo University of the Arts. For this exhibition, 34 students from art college prep schools around Japan drew the first six covers of the Blue Period manga series in their own unique styles. These creations were made across multiple media including charcoal, pencil, and oil paint. All 34 paintings will be on display during the exhibition period.

    Artist: Tomori Marimo This angel was drawn by art club member Mori-senpai in the series and inspired Yatora to pursue art. Appears in Volume 1.   Artist: Yamamichi Shota The painting Yatora drew based on the theme of 'Fate.' It was the first F100 painting and seemed like it would swallow him up. Appears in Volume 3.    Artist: Yamazaki Yuko Piece drawn for Yatora's first exam. The theme was 'self-portrait.' Appears in Volume 4.   Artist: Tamana Moteki Piece drawn for Yatora's second exam. The theme was 'nude.' Finished at the last minute. Appears in Volume 6.   The in-person event will also invite fans of Blue Period to see 50 works of art integral to the series.   • Ace Attorney Escape Room Opens in Tokyo and Nagoya to Celebrate Series’ 20th Anniversary

    SCRAP has planned and produced a number of Real Escape Games, attracting over 9.4 million attendees worldwide. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Ace Attorney series, The Grand London Murder Case escape game will be returning to venues in Tokyo and Nagoya for a limited time starting July 29, 2022.   The Grand London Murder Case is an interactive event incorporating elements of deduction, in which guests must solve the case and prove the defendant not guilty. Held in 32 cities across Japan in 2015, it became extremely popular.

    Gameplay Example

    The story begins when protagonist Ryunosuke Naruhodo becomes a suspect in a murder case. The players in this event are given the role of lawyers tasked with proving Naruhodo's innocence. To do this, they must examine the testimony and available evidence to find inconsistencies and examine parts of the venue where the crime took place.

    The in-game film was created by the Ace Attorney development team exclusively for the event. It will be fully voiced by Ryunosuke Naruhodo (Hiro Shimono) and heroine Susato Mikotoba (Kana Hanazawa), along with other popular members of the cast. The Ace Attorney series is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a number of exciting events.
