Aeon’s fashion brand DOUBLEFOCUS has announced a unique apparel collection featuring Crayon Shin-chan and Sanrio’s popular character Cinnamoroll! The collection itself will include 14 items and will release on September 29, 2022. Those interested will be able to purchase these items at over 150 AEON and AEON-STYLE locations around Japan, as well as online. Crayon Shin-chan has been a popular series for decades, and Cinnamoroll has won first place for three consecutive years in the Sanrio Character Awards. 

Many characters from Crayon Shin-chan will be featured in the collection, including Shinnosuke, Himawari, Shiro, and Buriburizaemon. These unique items can only be purchased at AEON stores, and fans can find everything from cushions and key chains to clothing. Be sure to grab your favorite items before they sell out!

To commemorate the 15th anniversary of Hatsune Miku, the PREMICO online store began selling beautiful faceted Edo Glass inspired by the virtual singer on August 17, 2022. Only 390 glasses will be available.

The custom-made blue-green glasses were inspired by the beloved virtual figure. Edo faceted glass is a traditional craft in Japan, and each is a unique work of art. Each piece is handmade by craftsmen at long-established workshops that are members of the Edo Kiriko Cooperate Association. 

Delivered in a special paulownia wood box, the Edo faceted glass comes with an acrylic display stand featuring a new illustration of Hatsune Miku by Iwato.

To commemorate the 5th anniversary of Sanrio’s avatar app Hello Sweet Days, a cafe collaboration with Sanrio Characters Honey Toast Cafe in Yokohama, the Pompompurin Cafe in Harajuku, and the Cinnamoroll Cafe in Shinjuku will begin on August 20, 2022. This is the first collaboration to take place at all three stores at once.

Tsuchiya Kaban is known around the world for its Japanese craftsmanship and handmade goods. The company has now opened TSUCHI-YA, a glassware specialty store! The shop opened on Asakusa’s Kappabashi Dougu Street on August 18, 2022.

At TSUCHI-YA, visitors can purchase the works of over 35 glass artisans from 13 prefectures throughout Japan, all of whom are dedicated to the art of making beautiful things. Aiming to share the beauty of glass with customers, many pieces on display are perfect for daily use. 

In addition to unique handmade glassware, the collection also features faceted glassware, each incorporating advanced techniques to bring traditional designs into the modern age. 

The techniques used to create each piece of glass are also incredibly diverse. Along with faceted glass, visitors can find sandblasted glass, which uses sand to create intricate patterns, as well as blown glass.

Also keep an eye out for sustainable items such as Ryukyu glass, a traditional Okinawan craft made from recycled glass melted from used bottles, and coasters made from wood, leather and other scrap materials.

The interior design for the shop was done by the creative team that also handles Tsuchiya Kaban stores. The dark tones found on the first floor make the transparent glassware shine. The second floor is an upscale gallery with a white ceiling, walls, and floor, featuring colorful faceted glasses and accessories, as well as vases, art, and more.

TSUCHI-YA embodied Tsuchiya Kaban’s passion for craftsmanship and will continue to share incredible handcrafted Japanese glassware. The company wants to bring Japanese politeness to the world.

Cinnamoroll, Pompompurin, and Pochakko are the latest to be picked up by the character-inspired Japanese confectionery series Tabemas. These tasty treats will go on sale at Lawson stores across Japan starting August 2, 2022.

Three of the most popular Sanrio characters have been transformed into traditional wagashi sweets! Pompompurin, Cinnamoroll, and Pochakko are dressed in their finest attire, complete with ribbons. Cinnamoroll’s filling is milk-flavored, while Pompompurin is pudding-flavored and Pochakko is filled with banana sweetness. Be sure to take some pictures before chowing down! Honestly, these might be too adorable to eat. 

The first Evangelion-themed Edo faceted glasses were released in November 2021, and Tsutaya Books Daikanyama will soon be selling limited quantities online! These items were previously only available to purchase locally.

The Evangelion Unit 1 Edo Faceted Glass was designed along with a traditional pattern inspired by chrysanthemums, which symbolize longevity in Japanese culture. While the standard colors of faceted glass are red and blue, the gold and purple colors used in this unique item are extremely difficult to create, with only a few factories capable of producing them.

The glassware is designed and cut by Kosho Nemoto at Nemoto Glass, which has produced the finest Edo faceted glass in Tokyo for three generations. The webpage below also explains how these glasses are produced.

The product is scheduled to be released in late June 2022 and is currently available for pre-order. The amount available is extremely limited, so be sure to order as soon as possible if you’d like to add one of these valuable glasses to your collection.

The results are in! The annual Sanrio Character Award tallies millions of votes to discover which of the company’s 450 characters is the fan favorite for the year. In 2022, nearly 26.5 million people cast their vote, totaling up to 124% of last year’s turnout.

Taking the top spot for the third year in a row is Cinnamoroll, almost reaching 3 million votes. The character is celebrating his 20th anniversary this year, so it’s fitting that he should take home the trophy!

Pompompurin came in second. The adorable dog has been in the top three for the past eight years and managed to rack up nearly 2.4 million votes. Surprisingly, Kuromi came in third, surpassing her rival My Melody for the first time ever. This was also the first time in the history of the competition that Kuromi has ranked in the top three.

Hangyodon ranked eighth, becoming the first new character in the top ten in 34 years. The fish character has been seeing increased popularity over the past year.

To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the popular Sanrio character Cinnamoroll, a new campaign has begun at Kura Sushi locations around Japan! Popular Sanrio characters have gathered for a ‘Sushi Party,’ and guests can look forward to a new collection of original merchandise.

During the event period, customers are invited to partake in a game when they visit Kura Sushi. For every five plates, they will be entered to win a piece of original merchandise including clear folders, pins, and more!

Starting June 24, guests spending ¥2,500 or more will receive a clear folder featuring Sanrio characters (4 varieties).

Visitors to the Kura Sushi location in Harajuku will be able to grab an Apple Cinnamon W Cream crepe featuring a special Cinnamoroll illustration. Combining apple compote, cinnamon, and custard, this sweet treat not only offers the sweetness and softness of apples but is also perfect for posting on social media! The pale blue whipped cream is inspired by Cinnamoroll’s coloring.

Tokyo’s TeNQ Space Museum, located in Tokyo Dome City, will hold a special Cinnamoroll exhibition to celebrate the Sanrio character’s 20th anniversary! The adorable white puppy won first place at the Sanrio Character Awards for two consecutive years and has been a beloved part of Sanrio’s lineup for two decades. From July 7 until October 17, guests can visit this unique walk through Cinnamoroll’s history. The exhibition’s key visual has been unveiled ahead of the event.

Folk Kitchen, a restaurant on the second floor of Hilton Osaka, will hold the Sanrio Characters Sweets Buffet ~Joyful Summer Festival~ from May 20 until September 11, 2022. The event is being held to celebrate Cinnamoroll, Pompompurin, and Pochakko coming in first, second, and third in the Sanrio Character Awards. A lineup of 25 different sweets will be available, including those filled with summer fruits like mango, peach, and watermelon! In addition, a “Zero Leftovers Campaign” will be implemented–so be sure to clear your plate!

Decorated with chocolate and adorable character designs, the Happy Festival Heart Mousse is a scrumptious dish blending the flavor of banana, caramel, and rum. Sanrio has announced the top 10 preliminary rankings for the 2022 Sanrio Character Awards! These results reflect those votes cast between April 8 and April 10.

The 2022 SANRIO FES, a one-day special event for Sanrio fans, will be held both in-person and online on Sunday, June 12. This will be the first time the event has been held in three years, and it will feature special panels with Sanrio characters, booths where fans can interact with their favorites, and plenty of other content to look forward to this summer.

The first-place winner in the preliminary results is Cinnamoroll, who ranked #1 last year and is currently celebrating his 20th anniversary. Pompompurin, who ranked at #2 last year, is also coming in second this year, while Pochakko, who ranked at #3 last year, is in third. Sanrio dogs are absolutely dominating the competition! 

Kuromi, who managed to climb into the top five in 2021 for the first time in 11 years, is ranked fourth, while fan favorites Hello Kitty and My Melody also appear. Hangyodon, who ranked at #13 in 2021, is currently ranked at #7, signaling a major jump in popularity.
