“Gudetama Café” is a collaborative café inside of “Dining Park Ikebukuro” which is located at the 8th floor of Seibu Ikebukuro Honten near the East Exit of Ikebukuro Station. Sanrio’s very popular character “Gudetama” will be featured in this café and it will be open from the 8th of November 2017 (Wed.) to the 21st of January 2018.

Sanrio’s collaborative crepes will be sold at MOMI&TOY’S
The “melting crepe” shop “MOMI&TOY’S” has been selling collaborative items with Sanrio’s popular characters, “Hello Kitty”, “My Melody” and “Cinamonroll.” For the collaborative menu items, some fruit which match the image of each characters and a “character monaka” is placed on top of the crepe. In each of these items it looks like the character is peeking at you from the edge of the crepe. They are all truly cute items. Each menu item is rapped with a special paper. The paper is designed with an illustration of the character. There is a fall version and a winter version of the wrapping paper.

The collaboration café, “TSUKIPRO THE ANIMATION” will be held at “Animate Café.” The venue is Animate Café Ikebukuro 3rd Shop and the café will be opened from the 2nd of November to the 29th of November. The concept of the collaboration is “TSUKIPRO KITCHEN.” Menus imaging the music units which appears in the work such as “SOARA no Kaze Kanjiru Ramune Parfait” which uses blue jelly and panna cotta to represent the blue sky and has a cookie of Arainu Kun and “QUELL no Rusei Gratin Plate” where you can enjoy gratin, Kuga Issei/Kuga Ichiryus’ favorite food and lots of vegetables will be offered.

To celebrate the return of Urusei Yatsura after 36 long years, a themed cafe will be coming to four cities in Japan for a limited time! The first cafe will open on December 1, 2022. Urusei Yatsura is a manga series by Rumiko Takahashi that ran in Weekly Shonen Sunday from 1978 until 1987. An anime series aired in 1981 and became a massive hit with audiences, and understandably, it is still loved by anime and manga fans today. The cafe features newly-drawn illustrations of six main characters including Ataru Moroboshi, Lum, and Ten.

The Metaverse event that was a smash hit in 2021 will be returning in 2023! Sanrio Virtual Festival 2023 in Sanrio Puroland, one of the world’s largest music festivals blending both the real and virtual worlds, will be held starting January 13, 2023. A lineup of high-profile performers has been announced, including Airi Suzuki, SKY-HI, Yabai T-Shirts Yasan, and Aoi Fuji. Popular Sanrio characters such as Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll, and Kuromi will also appear, and visitors will be able to experience the virtual Puroland by utilizing unique avatars and taking part in a number of exciting events. The 2021 event was incredibly popular, and the 2023 version will increase the duration and amount of content available. To do this, Puroland has joined forces with VRChat, a well-known US company and social platform. The word ‘kawaii’ is now commonly used around the world. Sanrio is largely to thank for this, and the beloved company has announced that the 60th Anniversary Sanrio Exhibition will open at the Hokkaido Museum of Modern Art from February 11 until April 2, 2023. The second Tabekko Doubutsu Cafe Stand event opened in Omotesando on November 1, 2022. Paying homage to the classic snack first released in 1978, the cafe features a number of tasty snacks inspired by the thin animal-shaped cookies popular around the world. This second event will run through January 9, 2023. Reservations are required, and many dates were completely sold out prior to the event’s start date, particularly on weekends. We decided to visit, anxious to see what the fuss is all about.
We were first shocked to see the popular animals enjoying oden! Original goods featuring the characters enjoying the quintessential Japanese winter dish are only available at the cafe. From acrylic keychains to figures, visitors can snag some adorable merchandise to commemorate their trip to the exclusive event. Why not snag some items that would be useful on a daily basis, like a notebook or an apron? For food, visitors can snag a special Oden Set and Chinese Dumplings, both perfect for the winter. The oden features popular ingredients like egg, daikon, fish cake, and mochikinchaku, each branded with the popular animal characters. Drinks include soy milk, green tea milk, and milk tea. In addition to the exclusive Lion Cake which is limited to 25 servings a day, guests can find chocolate bananas and other sweets on the menu, including a Sweets Set limited to those reserving special seats at the venue. For every ¥1,000 spent on food and drink items, customers will receive one Tabekko Doubutsu trading card! The exhibition space is a must-see for fans of this legendary snack, filled with rare works including an adorable and very colorful print of every animal holding a bowl of oden.
