Cornelius will release his new song Sauna Suki Sugi on digital music services on July 26. The song will be used as the main theme for the upcoming drama Sadou which will premiere on July 29.
The drama is an adaptation of Katsuki Tanaka’s manga of the same name centred around saunas. It is a popular series amongst sauna-lovers in Japan.
The song lyrics were written by Katsuki Tanaka himself while the music was composed by Cornelius. The song is described as sounding refreshing, the kind of music you would want to listen to when you’re relaxing, taking a dip or at a sauna.
A second date at Ebisu Liquidroom has been added to Cornelius’s upcoming concert “Cornelius Performs Point” which is being held to celebrate the release of the remastered version of his 2001 studio album Point which is set for release on July 31.
Speaking about the collaboration with the upcoming drama, Cornelius comments: “I hoped Sauna Suki Sugi expressed that trance-like state you go through when you’re in a sauna while I was writing the song. I’m a fan of Katsuki Tanaka’s work and always look forward to what he’s going to do next, so I am honoured to be doing this. I’m really looking forward to seeing how that manga translates to live-action.”
