Seasonal Autumn Food & Desserts Arriving to GINZA SIX

GINZA SIX is preparing for autumn with a range of seasonal desserts and foods as well as a list of pop up shops coming to the luxury shopping complex.

 

Shops, restaurants and cafes who promote a new kind of food culture in Ginza are readying themselves to release their delicious and high grade autumn-only menus.

Pumpkin Gugelhupf (¥420) – Viennoiserie JEAN FRANCOIS (B2F)

On the B2F food floor of GINZA SIX they will have a variety of festive desserts for seasonal Japanese events such as Halloween and moon viewing. Look forward to enjoying plenty of autumn ingredients like chestnuts and pumpkin as well as food and meals typical at picnics during this season. There will also be a tasting event with freshly picked fruits.

The restaurants and cafes at GINZA SIX are getting involved for the season too, serving up delicious courses and menu items made using carefully selected ingredients where it’s clear to see the chefs’ true skills at work.

 

There will be several pop-up shops open for a limited period too including tea shop Nakamura Tokichi Honten and desserts shop Kasho Sanzen.

Nakamura Tokichi Honten was established in 1854. They are setting up a pop-up shop on B2F to celebrate the 1-year anniversary of their GINZA SIX branch located on 4F which opened as the company’s first branch in the Kanto region. They will sell a range of Japanese sweets including their classic tea jelly, a pop-up shop original green tea ice cream, matcha-filled waffle cones and more.


Kasho Sanzen will be selling Hagi no Tsuki, a classic dessert from Sendai often bought as a souvenir. It’s made with a hearty amount of an original mild and mellow flavoured custard cream and wrapped in sponge cake. They will also sell zunda-an which uses a unique blend of carefully selected edamame and mochi rice.

    Imadeya Ginza is a sake brewer that stocks and ships close to 600 brands of local sake, authentic shochu, Japanese wine. If you're looking to buy Japanese alcohol then this is the place to go. The Yamagata Masamune Kimoto Junmai 1898 is produced by Mitobe Shuzo in Yamagata Prefecture. It's made with high quality sake rice  from Okayama Prefecture and omachi rice Akaiwa.     A high quality dessert boasted by a restaurant that was established in 1984.

     

    Marlowe is a café & restaurant located in front of "Tateishi" in Akiya, Yokosuka that is famous for its evening sun and as being selected as one of Kanagawa's 50 places of scenic beauty.     KUROGI CHACHA is a shop that preserves tradition while also challenging itself to create new flavours for Japanese wagashi (confectioneries)

    "Kurogi" is said to be one of the hardest restaurants to reserve a place for in Japan. To maintain the same spirit as the original restaurant, "KUROGI CHACHA" is a collaboration with the Kyoto tea shop "Fukujuen." The delectable to look out for is the Tokiba, a mix of arrowroot and cream cheese from Japan. You can enjoy the delicious Uji matcha flavour together with the Japanese 'purin-like' texture.     Today we take a look at “GINZA SIX,” the number one place where you can enjoy the spirit of Ginza to your hearts content, filled with unique shops scattered throughout a luxurious building! GINZA SIX opened its doors on April 20th this year. Located along Ginza’s symbolic Chuo-dori, which boasts some of the biggest and most luxurious fashion brands around including Dior, Saint Laurent, Céline, Valentino, Fendi, and Van Cleef & Arpels.     Greeting you as you enter the building is an art piece by internationally acclaimed Japanese artist Kusama Yayoi. The pop art chandeliers that hang from the ceiling are covered in dots, a design that Yayoi is famous for featuring in many of her works. This will no doubt be a popular photo spot! This entrance display can be enjoyed until February 25th, 2018.

    An official Kusama Yayoi pop-up store is also open for business, and everyone is going crazy over it! There’s other limited-time displays and collaborative project on show throughout the building too, so be sure to check them all out.

    Floor B1F – The beauty floor!

    Cosmetics and such are replete on B1F. There are a whopping 34 popular cosmetic brands lined up on this floor where you can get your hands on top brand items all in one go.  

    Yves Saint Laurent opened one of the world’s flagship boutiques. Not only does this store stock an amazing line-up of items, but it even has the world’s first membership scheme where one can have access to a private room, one that is themed around a recording studio. For the first time ever, the shop can offer smooth, one-to-one service. You can even get a quick service for information regarding limited edition GINZA SIX items as well as advice on eyebrows and how to draw them.

    Over in Chanel you can find the world’s first ever lip stick vending machine, “LIP GATE.” Not only does it look amazing, it holds up well too! With a simple press of a button, your desired lip stick will drop down wrapped in a bag and ready to go. This is a new cool and smooth way to shop that was never available before. There’s also mini bottles of perfume limited to the store that are sure to induce those love calls!  

    John Masters Organic Select is also open with a huge line-up! The store is modern looking and decorated just like the original in a homage to New York salons. It also has a new concierge area where you can receive advice one-on-one with specialists regarding items and scalp treatment.   • Nagoya Castle to Hold Special Autumn Night Art Viewing for a Limited Time

    The historic Nagoya Castle will hold a special nighttime viewing event for 14 days only, from November 25 until December 8, 2022. During this period, Honmaru Palace will be open to the public at night, and the Chrysanthemum Corridor inside will be open to visitors for the first time.  The Ninomaru Garden will also be illuminated and will transport guests to a different place and time by showing a space only possible during dark hours.   Inspired by the relationship between light and shadow, this event focuses on changes that occur over time and the creation and emergence of new ideas and things.   Honmaru Palace, Typically Closed to the Public, to be Open at NightNagoya Castle’s Honmaru Palace was completed in 1615 and served as the primary residence of the Lord of the Owari Domain and as the Domain’s government office. The interior of the palace was lavishly decorated with paintings and other art pieces and was praised as a masterpiece. Sadly, it was destroyed by an air raid in 1945. Restoration work began in 2009 and was completed in 2018 with unparalleled accuracy. The Honmaru Palace gives off a completely different aura at night.   

    First Public Viewing of the Jodan-no-ma in the Joraku-den

    The Joraku-den was added to Nagoya Castle to accommodate the third Shogun, Iemitsu, on his way to Kyoto. It is the most luxurious of all the Honmaru Palace buildings, and this event marks the first time that the Chrysanthemum Corridor on the north side will be open to the public. Visitors are welcome to admire the golden-blue paintings as they stroll through the historic site.

    ~Witness a Never-Before-Seen Feudal Lord's Garden through a Spacial Presentation~Scenography for this unique show was provided by the creative label PERIMETRON. In order to show another side of the Ninomaru Garden at night, the company focused on light’s characteristics, from reflection and transmission to refraction and absorption. Light and shadow intertwine in various ways, and guests will be transfixed by this curious showing.

The show features a new theme each month and currently features a jazz band.   October’s theme is Happy Halloween Party, and visitors can listen to a number of famous songs while enjoying tasty and healthy dishes packed with autumn flavors.   • Teppanyaki and Yakiniku Restaurant Honten Yamashina Opens in Ginza

    On July 18, the upscale teppanyaki and yakiniku restaurant Honten Yamashina opened a new location in Ginza! The hybrid restaurant has taken over the entire top floor of GINZA PLACE, which is directly connected to Ginza Station. Overlooking the Ginza 4-chome intersection, it’s a gorgeous place to enjoy some authentic Japanese cuisine. Honten Yamashina mainly uses fully-matured Omi beef, the highest grade available among Shiga Prefecture’s top-tier beef, from Okazaki Farm. The cows are allowed to fatten for a considerable amount of time and live stress-free lives for over 40 months. Less than 1% of all Wagyu cattle are shipped after 24 months of age, and this delectable meat is characterized by its sharp taste and fattiness.

Visitors can also enjoy seafood and seasonal Japanese vegetables along with their meat, and the flowers and leaves that adorn each plate will change depending on the time of year.   In addition to rare teppanyaki dishes like skirt steak and 3cm-thick beef tongue, Honten Yamashina also offers some playful dishes such as sliders. As the temperature differs on different parts of the steel cooking plate, each item can be cooked to a temperature that maximizes its specific flavor. Honten Yamashina also has a massive cellar housin over 1,000 bottles of wine and hard-to-find spirits.    Japanese-style YakinikuFor those looking for a more private experience, guests can enjoy yakiniku in a completely separate room. Each private room has a grill that will cook meat to the perfect temperature, and only at Honten Yamashina can you enjoy fully-matured Omi beef.
