Space Invaders 8-Bit T-Shirt Designs to be Released by UNIQLO’s UT Brand

UNIQLO’s recently released a line of 8-bit t-shirts in collaboration with video game developers BANDAI NAMCO and Taito from their t-shirt graphics brand UT which featured designs from popular games such as Pac-Man and Space Invaders. The company are teaming up with Taito once again to release a new line of Space Invaders t-shirts.

Space Invaders is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. The franchise first hit the scene in 1978 and lit a video game boom in the late 70’s through the 80’s. It’s a simple game that requires players to control a ship and shoot enemies that descend from the top of the screen. The game became an international sensation and is credited with inventing a new genre of video game.

To celebrate 40 years, UT have joined hands with Taito to create several new 8-bit designs as a homage to the game series. 8-bit is perceived differently from generation to generation – while it rings nostalgic to those who were knee deep in the arcade game boom it also serves to form a fresh retro culture with the younger people of today.

The designs feature symbolic scenes taken from the game as well as the characters like the iconic Crab embroidered onto the t-shirt, fusing together Japanese game culture and fashion.

Show your support for the 8-bit era and classic video games by getting your hands on one of these fashionable t-shirts!
