Mr. Children Announce New Album ‘Juryoku to Kokyu’ & Release Music Video Featuring All Band Members

Japanese pop rock band Mr. Children commemorated their 25th anniversary last year with their “Thanksgiving 25” tour, the band’s biggest to date, which saw them perform to 700,000 fans at stadiums and domes across the whole of Japan.

 

Mr. Children aren’t slowing down this year as they will release their new album Juryoku to Kokyu on October 3. This is their first album since REFLECTION (2015). To promote the new record, the band will embark on a 2018-2019 arena tour which will take them to 13 locations for 25 concerts, including their first ever overseas solo performance at Taipei Arena.

The new album features a total of 10 tracks including himawari which was used as the main theme for the Japanese movie Let Me Eat Your Pancreas, as well as here comes my love which was the main theme for the drama series Residential ComplexSINGLES which was also the theme for a drama series titled Hagetaka, and Hifu Kokyu which was used for Docomo’s 25th anniversary campaign commercial and at the time was dubbed “TBA DEMO.”

 

The CD cover (above) has also been unveiled in addition to a new artist photo and the short version the music video for their new song Your Song. This is the first music video to feature the band members since Ashiato ~Be Strong was released in November 2014.

 

 

Even 25 years later, Mr. Children’s new album shows that the band continue to hold that fire in them as a rock band while displaying their passion, yearning, love and urge towards music.

 

The band’s vocalist Kazutoshi Sakurai commented:

“I can finally open my mouth about our new album, so I will scream about it with everyone I have. We’ve made our best album yet!!”

 

The record is described as having their very existence etched it, showing their avid desire to create music and a sprint towards something new.“

    Mr.Children’s newest album SOUNDTRACKS was released on December 2 last year in Japan, and now fans worldwide can finally enjoy the record as it became available on music streaming and download services on Sunday (February 14) including Spotify.

    Mr.Children began writing SOUNDTRACKS at the end of their 2019 “Against All GRAVITY” tour in July 2019, which was held to 400,000 fans. The band wanted to explore new musical territory which resulted in this 10-track record, one produced together with Grammy Award-winning mixer and producer Steve Fitzmaurice who has worked with some huge names including Seal, U2, Sting, Sam Smith, and more. The album was mastered by Randy Merrill of Sterling Sound.

  • Mr.Children Reveal ‘Against All GRAVITY’ Live DVD & Blu-ray Cover Design & Footage

    After Japanese pop rock band Mr.Children wrapped up their 2018-19 “Juryoku to Kokyu” arena tour to promote their latest album Juryoku to Kokyu, they embarked on their 11-date 2019 “Against All GRAVITY” dome tour which began on April 20 earlier this year and took them to Japan’s five biggest dome venues and Okinawa Convention Centre where they performed to over 400,000 fans.

     

    The finale concert of this tour took place at Nagoya Dome. This epic show is heading to DVD and Blu-ray on December 25, the perfect Christmas gifts for fans.

    The band posted the DVD/Blu-ray cover design as well as their performance of everybody goes ~Chitsujo no Nai Gendai ni Drop Kick~ from the live DVD.

     

    40,000 excited fans filled Nagoya Dome that night, where Mr.Children cemented themselves as one of Japan’s leading bands both in name and reality, one that continues to evolve and sprint forward full speed.

    The band just released their new album Juryoku to Kokyu on October 3 and dropped three music videos simultaneously.

    The music videos for Your Song (Original Story) and SINGLES were directed by acclaimed Japanese film director Kyotaro Hayashi whose concept for the videos was to create a drama-like setting between young people with the cityscape in the background. The first video features actor Kento Hayashi and actress Honoka Murakami and the second Kai Inowaki and Jun Yoshinaga respectively.

     

    Mr.Children will embark on their tour Mr.Children Tour 2018-19 Juryoku to Kokyu which will begin at Hiroshima Green Arena on October 6. The 25-date tour will take the band to 13 locations which includes their first ever overseas solo concert that will take place at Taipei Arena in Taiwan.

     

    The band’s vocalist Kazutoshi Sakurai commented:

    “We moved towards creating an album with passion, like one that would make our junior musicians want to quit music, or one with an overwhelming sound that would make us something to aim for. I think that’s exactly the kind of music we’ve created. Please definitely give it a listen!!!”
