Tokyo Disneyland’s Hot Jungle Summer Event Offers Up Flames, Drenching Water & Delicious Food

16.July.2019 | FEATURES / FOOD

Hi, everyone! It’s Midori from MMN’s editorial team.

Donald Duck is the star of Tokyo Disneyland right now with his Hot Jungle Summer festival that is running right now until September 1. It is packed full of events, limited time food and exclusive goodies all themed around summer.

The limited time food is taking on water and fire motifs with restaurants serving up both cool and refreshing looking items and hot summery items. I paid a visit to the festival together with Kanako so we could try out these seasonal meals and drinks.

Sparkling Drink (Blue Syrup) – ¥380

We headed over to Boiler Room Bites located inside Adventureland and tired out their blue coloured “sparkling drink.” Blue syrup is added to the cup inside which chewy pieces of jelly bob up and down in the soda. Its appearance alone is enough to cool you down, it’s really pretty!

They sell other sparkling drinks too, including a red coloured one with raspberry syrup and a yellow one with lemon syrup. It’s cute and fun for you and your friends to get different coloured ones♡

For an extra ¥350 you can also get this huge yellow souvenir straw with Donald on the front. Simply kawaii♡

Cream Shaved Ice (Tropical Fruits) – ¥550 (Tax Included)

The tropical fruits flavour of Tokyo Disneyland’s popular cream shaved ice is available for the festival only. It’s a mix of shaved ice and soft serve ice cream.

It’s sold at Troubadour Tavern in Fantasyland and comes with huge pieces of pineapple. It’s not too sweet and is the perfect refreshment for the hot summer weather.

Special Set: ¥960 (Tax Included)

You can get this special set at the refreshment corner of World Bazaar. It comes with a bright red hot dog topped with cheese and a vegetable sauce packed full of veggies. The sauce is spicy and will whet your appetite!

It also comes with a drink and fries so you’re sure to get your lunchtime fill.

Special Set: ¥1,080 (Tax Included)

Camp Woodchuck Kitchen in Westernland is popular for its turkey legs. This mouthwatering set comes with a tasty hamburger seasoned with curry sauce and topped with cheese. Even in the hot summer this one is a must-try. It also comes with fries and a drink.

The restaurant sells a whole load of other bites too like the onigiri burger, waffle sandwiches and more, all ideal for lunch. Sift through the menu and make your choice♡

Mango Milk Soft Serve Ice Cream w/ Raspberry Sauce – ¥400 (Tax Included)

If you want ice cream then you’ll want to head to Squeezer’s Tropical Juice Bar in Adventureland where they’re selling mango and milk flavoured soft serve ice cream drizzled in raspberry sauce. The sweetness of the ice cream and sourness of the raspberry sauce go together really well. It’s available for a limited time only so don’t miss out!

That goes for everything else listed here, it’s all limited-time-only, so if you’re in Tokyo this summer then be sure to head on over ASAP!

  • Get Drenched With Zootopia Characters This Summer At Tokyo Disneyland

    14.July.2019 | FEATURES / SPOT

Every year, Disneyland puts on a show where everyone gets soaked. This year’s show features Nick and Judy from Zootopia. With Cinderella’s Castle as the main stage, large quantities of water is sprayed everywhere. I headed over to check out the commotion as soon as possible with Instagrammer Kanako.

This summer, the event Judy and Nick’s Jumpin’ Splash is taking place four times every day. It is possible to apply to experience the fun at the centre stage area close to the castle, however, winners are chosen at random. You can apply for all of the showings except the first one of the day. You can apply by smartphone app or by heading to Tomorrowland Hall.

If I still haven’t made myself clear, the central viewing area will be splashed with lots of water, so if you are going to take part, make sure you wear a raincoat. You can buy one from the shops when you get to Disneyland.

While the movie’s theme song “Try Everything” plays, Judy and Nick take to the stage and dance.

Just when everyone gets into the dancing…

Everyone gets soaked by water that surges out from Cinderella’s Castle! We were carelessly standing right in the middle of the danger zone so we were mercilessly drenched. I recommend you keep clear of the centre of the area and wear your raincoat as tight as you can!

For the latter half of the show, the dancers grabbed hoses and continued to drench us. Everything was happening in the moment. It was all an exciting blur that was over in what felt like seconds.

This show showered away the summer heat within seconds. You can enjoy getting soaked in the centre of the action or watch other people getting soaked from a safe distance. There are only three chances to take part each day. This is a limited chance to make extra special memories, so please apply!

It’s not as bad as it seems. If you wear your raincoat properly, your clothes will not get wet, so there is no need to worry about ruining your glamorous look if that is the reason you don’t want to take part.

Plunge straight into the summer fun at Tokyo Disneyland!

This one is for the coffee-lovers. Pop by Café Orléans to pick up the D’s Delights Vanilla Smoothie & Coffee Jelly (¥500). Underneath the vanilla smoothie is a layer of coffee jelly. The top of the smoothie is filled with cocoa. We recommend you thoroughly mix the vanilla smoothie and coffee jelly before drinking it. The sweetness of the smoothie and the bitterness of the coffee jelly are a match made in heaven. When you’re tired of walking and need something sweet and refreshing, this drink is sure to power you up back to full battery.

1995: Mickey Mouse Cap & Glove Parade

A fun parade was put on back in 1995 as part of the special Mickey-themed event Mickey Mania in 1995. It featured Mickey’s cap, gloves, shoes and other items walking around as well as floats with Mickey Mouse motifs on them.

There were lots of cute Mickey decorations around the castle too. For this special event the entire park was dedicated to all things Mickey.

In 2006, guests were treated to lots of Stitch drawings, sketches and decorations of everybody’s favourite small blue alien Stitch from the Disney film Lilo & Stitch.

To conclude the Heisei period of Tokyo Disneyland the park is currently holding a special Easter event entitled Disney Easter which has lots of “Usatama” running around the park, Easter eggs with bunny ears and tails that are being born one after the other from a machine that makes Easter eggs.

  • Experience Tokyo Disneyland’s Magical Christmas Parade & Decorations

    12.November.2019 | FEATURES / SPOT

Jolly faces are all around at Tokyo Disney Resort right now as Disney Christmas kicked off last Friday. It’s set to sleigh its way up to Christmas Day this year.

The editorial team at MOSHI MOSHI NIPPON jumped ahead and got to experience all of the festive fun taking place at Tokyo Disneyland parks, so we’re going to showcase some of the magical events taking place this year.

Disney characters dress up for the amazing Christmas parade

If you’re visiting Tokyo Disneyland this year, the one event you absolutely have to check out the Disney Christmas Stories parade, where Mickey and company, as well as characters from various Disney Pixar films like Frozen and Toy Story, all arrive on Christmas floats.

All of the floats and themed on the films they appear in. For example, Lilo and Stitch ride a Hawaii Christmas boat, while Donald and Daisy have their own boat decked out with Christmas decorations.

The floats will stop before the crowd, and that’s when the dancing begins! Mickey, Minnie, Chip and Dale begin the dancing in front of Cinderella’s castle. All of the Christmas-clad characters and dancers invite guests to join in with dancing.

Once the dancing stops, the floats begin to move again, and snow falls all around the guests, plunging them into a White Christmas. The parade is truly magical at this point as the snow dances through the air. What could be better than celebrating Christmas than with your favourite Disney character at Tokyo Disneyland?

Gaze up at the 15-meter tall Christmas tree

The first thing to catch your eye if you walk towards the World Bazaar from the entrance is the towering Christmas tree which stands 15 meters high. At night, they turn the Christmas lights on, glow beautifully with the other visuals shining in the area. Here you’ll truly feel like you’ve been transported to a Christmas land as you’re wrapped in the warm lights of the illuminations and lulled by the music.

Photo opportunities with your favourite characters

In front of the Cinderella castle you’ll find multiple photo spots with statues of Disney characters. There are photographers there ready to take guests’ photos for them, so be sure to dress in your Christmas best to snap a memorable picture with the Disney cast. If you buy the photo, you’ll also receive a Christmas illustration and other goodies.

You can really feel the Christmas spirit at Tokyo Disneyland simply by walking through the park. Don’t miss this year’s Disney Christmas, and be sure to invite friends, family and loved ones along for the ride.
