BAPE® Collaborates On adidas Originals Superstar Models

BAPE® has teamed up with adidas Originals once again for a 2021 Spring/Summer Collection which includes the release of a collaborative model of Superstar model sneakers at A BATHING APE® stores and online on Saturday (February 27).

The Superstar sneakers come in two colour variations. This includes a fusion of the BAPE signature “STA” and adidas Originals’ iconic three stripes. The heels bear both brand’s logos.

There’s also a camo design of black and white contrast which pays respect to the OG Superstar models released in 1969 known as the “Celean & Celassic.” The sneakers are also laced with red and blue mystic tones.

    BAPE KIDS®︎ is celebrating its 16th anniversary with a wholesome new collaboration with illustrator Chocomoo! The artist has become popular around the world for his pop style, and this new collection is sure to have kids heading to school in style.

    White atelier BY CONVERSE, a directly-managed Converse store in Tokyo and Fukuoka, is now offering a lineup of custom shoes featuring designs by illustrator Kayoubi.

    Customers can create an original pair of shoes by choosing from a selection of four different illustrations, which can be placed on the outside of the shoe and the tongue.

    These sneakers will be available online and at White atelier BY CONVERSE locations.

  • A BATHING APE® Announces Collaboration with Classic Sci-Fi Film E.T.

    Famed streetwear brand A BATHING APE® has announced a surprising collaboration with the sci-fi film classic E.T.

     

    Academy Award-winning Steven Spielberg directed E.T., and the film made a huge splash when it was released in 1982. The themes of trust, courage, and friendship are timeless and inspiring, and the film has remained popular 40 years later. To celebrate the 40th anniversary, this new collection came into being.

     

    The new collection utilizes themes, scenes, and characters from the film. When combined with BAPE®︎’s signature style, fans will find pieces that mix nostalgia and modern street fashion. Which piece is your favorite?

    Fans of the film will recognize Elliott riding his bicycle against a backdrop of the moon with E.T. in the basket. The classic line “I’ll be right here” is printed on the upper sleeve of the sweatshirts.



    The red hoodie is a tribute to Elliot’s outfit in the film. Meanwhile, new items have been released under the BABY MILO®︎ label, with the T-shirt showing Elliott, E.T., and the popular ape character lined up in a row.

    The print on the back of the T-shirt is glow-in-the-dark, and the long-sleeved T-shirts feature reflective fabric. The team did everything they could to make these items feel as sci-fi as possible, and they are a great way to celebrate the film’s 40th anniversary.

  • 1BLOCK Lupin The Third NFT Collection Sell Out Instantly

    The web3 creative studio 1BLOCK, based in Los Angeles and Tokyo, released a 3D NFT collection on August 12 to massive fan response. The Lupin the Third x MetaSamurai NFT set sold out instantly. The AIR SMOKE ZERO, Japan’s first virtual sneakers, feature a younger Lupin and friends. 

     

    The NFTs sold out immediately after going on sale, and the collection was temporarily ranked 7th in the world based on transaction volume on OpenSea, the largest global NFT marketplace. The price of a single item has also quadrupled since it was first sold.

     

    The collection is based on Takeshi Koike’s long-running Lupin the Third series. Each item is one-of-a-kind. 

     

    To celebrate the release of the collaboration collection, a commemorative NFT will be airdropped to those holding MetaSamurai NFTs on August 19. Check out the 1BLOCK Discord for more details.

  • Lupin the Third Inspires Collaboration NFT Sneakers

    Takeshi Koike’s Lupin the Third series has inspired something truly unique. web3 creative studio 1BLOCK, inspired by a younger Lupin and friends, will be offering up some virtual sneakers in summer 2022. These sneakers are part of MetaSamurai, a 3D avatar project. Each of these NFTs will be the only one of their kind in the world.

     

    MetaSamurai was inspired by Lupin III, Daisuke Jigen, and Goemon Ishikawa from the Lupin the Third series. The virtual sneakers were created with designs based on the three series: Lupin the Third: The Gravestone of Daisuke Jigen, Lupin the Third: The Blood Spray of Goemon Ishikawa, and Lupin the Third: Fujiko Mine’s Lie.

    The Y’s SEEULATER X GSG9–the newest collaboration sneaker between Y’s and Adidas–will go on sale on June 3, with preorders starting on May 28. 

     

    Designed with military elements in mind, the Y’s SEEULATER X GSG9 was based on the more rugged SEEULATER model. The new sneakers incorporate the GSG9 sole, and pairs will be available in black on black or white on black. Featuring detailed finishes and an urban feel, these high-performance kicks can be paired with any and all outfits. 

    The SEEULATER, a hiking shoe from the ADVENTURE series, was originally launched in 1995. Not originally released in Japan, many now regard it as a legendary masterpiece in footwear.     Nike’s newest sneakers, the ‘W AIR MAX 90 FUTURA,’ will be available at atmos pink locations nationwide starting May 28, 2022.

    The W AIR MAX 90 FUTURA is an easy-to-wear sneaker combining classic Nike style and an updated patchwork design in a number of colors. Heavily inspired by Tokyo streetwear, the newest visual for the sneakers feature the up-and-coming artist group bala. The visual has been directed by OWNCEAN from the duo UNA+MATCHA, who is also active as a DJ and model. The five female members of bala. are known for their modern style and freedom of expression.     In 2022, the new project bala. was launched to gather artists and creators presenting cutting-edge music, fashion, and art from Japan to the rest of the world. bala. will link with the global music scene and present fans with an honest vision of Tokyo culture. The project aims to be a collective of artists that connects both underground and overground cultures, pop and alternative genres, and Japan and Asia with the world. The collective is led by MANON, an iconic presence in the Japanese rap scene; ASA Wu, a trilingual singer from Taiwan; SUNNY ONLY1, a Gen-Z alternative pop singer and model; and a creative crew called  ‘KissGelz’ (MANON, Dan, Kayno). They will create a new cultural hub under the bala. umbrella.

    Japan’s top streetwear brand A BATHING APE is releasing a new collection inspired by Dragon Ball Z! The two first collaborated in 2016 starting with imagery inspired by Son Goku’s childhood. In June 2020, the company released a collection themed around the Cell arc.

    The newest collection was inspired by the final arc of the series, the Buu Saga, expressed in the style of BABY MILO.


    The main characters from the series–Goku, Vegeta, Majin Buu, and Piccolo–are all depicted in BABY MILO style. In addition, characters such as Mr. Satan and Uub appear, perfect for more hardcore fans wanting to see lesser-known characters represented.


    The lineup includes a coach jacket and hoodie featuring newly-drawn illustrations inspired by the final episode. Don’t miss this special collaboration!

  • 10 Artists Collaborate on Eight Inch BABY MILO Figure Collection from BAPE

    In September 2018, ten incredibly talented artists came together to celebrate BAPE’s 25th anniversary by designing life-sized BABY MILO sculptures. These pieces of art were put on display at Space O in Omotesando Hills. After four years, those sculptures have been reimagined as eight-inch figures in collaboration with BAIT! (Much easier to display at home, right?) 

     

    The participating artists are SK8THING, mankey, Stash, James Bond, Adam Lister, Michael Lau, Eric Haze, Shepard Fairey, Shinsuke Takizawa, and Nishiyama Tetsu.
