KEEN x Murasaki Sports Collaborate on Footwear Release

Murasaki Sports and outdoor/footwear brand KEEN released a new limited-edition model of KEEN’s NEWPORT H²O shoes, the NEWPORTのH2, on April 10.

The designer for the alternative models is GRINDLODGE garage project who have captured the gorgeous ocean with the sun and trees reflected on the water surface on them. This design is created using the company’s grinder tool which makes each and every pair of shoes unique. The footwear is equipped with KEEN’s Newport H2 technology so they can be worn both in and out of the water.



Murasaki Sports is donating 10% of the proceeds made from these limited-edition models to Umi Sakura to help keep Japan’s oceans clean. Additionally, Umi Sakura, Murasaki Sports, and KEEN will begin rolling out their two-month #ACTIONFORCHANGE campaign this month in the run up to World Oceans Day which begins on June 8, 2021.


Murasaki Sports aims to teach more people engaged in sports such as surfing about importance preserving the environment through this campaign and footwear release. The brand is one supported by the youth of Japan, so the campaign hopes to pass down these messages of sustainability to young people.

  • These Shaman King Chocolates Are Filled With Adzuki Bean Paste and Marshmallows

    TIROL-CHOCO is collaborating with the Shaman King anime series this spring with a special bag of chocolates releasing in Japan on May 17.

    Shaman King (Fukuro) | ¥130

    The Shaman King manga series written and illustrated by Hiroyuki Takei has over 38 million copies in circulation. This marks TIROL-CHOCO’s second collaboration with its anime adaptation.

     

    Inside each bag are individually wrapped chocolates each with a different character on the packets. There are eight designs in total, but one bag contains just seven. The chocolates are stuffed with adzuki bean paste, adzuki bean chocolate, and marshmallows.

  • MUFG to Open MUFG Park in West Tokyo in 2023

    MUFG has announced that decided its Tokyo-based Musashino Sports Ground will is transforming into the new MUFG Park (tentative name) as part of its efforts toward the realisation of a sustainable environment and society. Set to open in 2023, MUFG Park will consist of three concept areas: a precious green environment in the city center (nature); environments for sports and to promote health (sports); and an environment for social exchange and activities (communication).

  • Tomodachi wa Kuma Original Honey Sake Releases in Japan

    Liquor Innovation’s online sake store KURAND collaborated with Saiki Tamumu’s popular character Tomodachi wa Kuma to release an original label honey sake. The drink is available to purchase until May 31 at 17:00 (JST).

    The honey beverage features an original label in collaboration with Tomodachi wa Kuma, a popular character in Japan who saw 38,000 customers dine at his themed cafe last year, over 100,000 books sold, and lots of merchandise sold.

     

    The bottle label has the adorable bear dressed as a bee eating honey comb and being scolded by other bees.

  • Red Bull x King Gnu Secret Gig Announced

    As part of Red Bull and King Gnu’s “Go Louder” project, the Japanese pop-rock band are set to hold an exclusive live concert at a secret location as part of the Red Bull Secret Gig experience, which has taken place at over 10 locations in six countries worldwide. The show is scheduled for early June this year, and applications for tickets opened on April 27.

     

    Tickets to the Red Bull Secret Gig shows are free, but the venue is kept a secret until the last minute, and concertgoers must solve puzzles and riddles. There are two ways to attend the King Gnu concert: in-person and online, each of which will be determined on fans’ success in the endeavour.

    The Sesame Street and BAPE® collaboration continues with pre-sales for the children’s line-up having launched at BAPE KIDS® Harajuku on April 29 and the men’s collection dropping at all A BATHING APE® stores and webstore on May 2.

    This collaboration features familiar faces from the Sesame Street series including Elmo, the Cookie Monster, and Big Bird together with BAPE’s own BABY MILO®. It’s a fun and colourful collection of stripes tees, tees with big graphics on them, and more for the family to coordinate.

  • Japanese Illustrator Cotoh Tsumi Opens Exhibition in Tokyo

    Japanese illustrator Cotoh Tsumi is now holding a solo exhibition of her iconic artwork at the atmos propeller street branch of Japanese sneaker select shop atmos in Tokyo. The exhibition, which is themed on girls wearing sneakers, is running until May 9.

    Cotoh Tsumi became well-known for creating the visuals for the Japanese music unit YOASOBI. They also created the main visual for the atmos con Vol.8 event held last month and even released a capsule collection. Now, their “q” exhibition is being held at atmos propeller street’s Anicoremix Gallery. The subheading for the exhibition reads, “You understand surface-level cuteness, but if you say you know anything about me, you’re a liar.” The exhibition brings together illustrations from the artist’s archive.

  • Snoopy Design Eco Bags Release in Collaboration With 11 Brands
