Three new Starbucks “teas” including “Hojicha Frappuccino” to be debuted

Starting from September 1st, Starbucks Coffee Japan will debut its new “tea” lineup at almost all Starbucks stores throughout Japan (some stores not offered) for a limited time offer. One of the items in this lineup is “Grapy Grape & Tea Jelly Frappuccino®” which offers you a fresh-tasting bouncy- textured sweets item. Furthermore, TEAVANA™’s new items, “Grapy Grape and Tea” and one of its tea lattes turned into a Frappuccino, “Hojicha Crème Frappuccino® with Caramel Sauce” will also be debuted.

“Grapy Grape & Tea Jelly Frappuccino®” is a festive red-purple-colored sweets item. The sparkling clear ingredient inside the cup is bouncy tea jelly which has captured the rich black tea flavor. The texture of the deskinned grape and cranberry flesh which has been stewed is also a trill to experience. Into this stewed flesh has been added peach, strawberries and other fruit to make the juice base but then this same stewed fruit flesh has also been generously added as one of the ingredients of the cup. Here is a Frappuccino where one can enjoy not only the fruity base juice, the rich tasting tea jelly along with grape and berry stewed flesh but also the festive look of this sweets item.

TEAVANA™ has been offering its season limited drink “Grapy Grape & Tea” during the fall and winter as both a hot and iced drink. For this item, various fruit such as peach and strawberries have been mixed together to make the base juice and to this is added grape and berry stewed flesh and the black tea. For the iced drink, to the sharp black tea is added the stewed grape and berry flesh and the juice base to make this a very refreshing drink. For the hot drink, the tea is steeped in the hot grape and berry base juice. The sweet and sour flavor of the tea combined with the fruity aroma of the fruit make this a very soothing and calming drink.

“Hojicha” was one very popular drink in TEAVANA’s™ tea latte series, and now the new item, “Hojicha Crème Frappuccino® with Caramel Sauce” will be offered. To make Starbucks’ original hojicha, 5 types of teas were blended by tea specialists taking great care insure the compatibility of the hojicha with milk so as to give the flavor depth. “Hojicha Crème Frappuccino® with Caramel Sauce” is a drink where one can enjoy the real flavor of hojicha which has been turned into a milky dessert flavor. Not only can one enjoy the rich extract of hojicha but by blending the various tea leaves together they have been able to deliver a refined and rich flavor. The gentle and mellow sweetness of the white mocha helps to bring out the hojicha’s flavor and the topping of whipped cream, caramel sauce and sugar help to give an accent, tuning this into a very exciting drink.     Since its start in 2007, the Snoopy tea brand SNOOTEA has remained popular with Peanuts fans and tea fans alike. Typically, the brand has sold black tea in cute tins featuring Snoopy and his friends.   Starting November 7, fans can purchase a special Chocola tea made by tea blender Shuntarou Kumazaki. Blended to suit Japanese water and inspired by the world of Peanuts, it promises to be the perfect flavor for the holidays.   Made with cacao nibs, the flavor of standard black tea is punctuated with a chocolate aroma. The tea leaves themselves come from India, Sri Lanka, and Kenya, and are blended together in a balanced way to create an appealing taste that will have tea lovers coming back again and again.     Nara-based tea ceremony brand Saron is serving up a tasty treat perfect for the warm weather! White shaved ice with dark matcha topping is now available until mid-September, and guests are invited to adjust the taste by altering the amount of tea added.   Lately, Nara has been experiencing a major shaved ice boom. Inspired by Himuro Shrine, known for housing a guardian deity of ice, the city introduces plenty of created recipes for the summer treats each year. The tea ceremony brand Saron was founded by Nakagawa Masashichi Shouten, in business since the Edo period–so it’s safe to say that the company knows what they’re talking about! These rooms will allow guests to enjoy a soothing private space and will be available starting April 1, 2022.   Blank meditation tea mediation      The Medicha meditation rooms consist of two spaces: ‘blank,’ where guests are surrounded by mist, and ‘tea,’ where guests will immerse themselves in beautiful water patterns. An original program shown on in-room televisions at the hotel will also instruct guests in the art of meditation.    In ‘Blank Meditation,’ guests will stand in a cool mist and immerse themselves in layers of diverse sounds and shifting colors of light. This will help quiet the mind and create a ‘blank slate’ mentally. The ‘Tea Meditation’ room invites visitors to spend time with themselves while getting lost in shimmering water patterns in a dimly lit space as they carefully brew their own tea. Two types of tea are on offer, each with distinct aromas and flavors.    
  • McDonald’s ‘McCafe by Barista’ to Offer Uji Matcha Sweets for Spring

    McDonald’s Japan locations with ‘McCafe by Barista’ areas will begin selling special spring treats for a limited time starting April 6, 2022. Customers will be able to grab the ‘Strawberry Uji Matcha Frappe’ and the ‘Uji Matcha Mont Blanc Tart.’   McCafe by Barista invites guests to enjoy high-quality frappes and smoothies. The Uji Matcha Frappe was added to the regular product lineup in June 2021, and features a mellow matcha flavor. The Strawberry variant is coming back for the first time in three years. The Mont Blanc Tart is a new addition, and is a perfect treat to enjoy with this popular frappe!

      The Strawberry Matcha Frappe mixes together the full-bodied flavor of matcha together with sweet and sour strawberries. It includes both a strawberry paste made from whole strawberries and a strawberry whipped cream at the bottom. The drink is topped with more strawberry whipped cream and a sprinkling of matcha powder. The refreshing taste of the strawberry sauce coupled with the whipped cream serves to elevate the great flavor of the Uji Matcha even more.
