CrosSing Cover Song Project Reveals Yoko Hikasa’s Rendition of Shaman King’s Opening Song ‘Over Soul’

In March 2022, the cover song project CrosSing was launched. Amassing instant popularity, tracks featured as part of the project have pulled in millions of views. The project has featured popular voice actors Maaya Uchida, Kana Hanazawa, and Akari Kito. The channel currently has over 100,000 subscribers. 

 

On October 12, the channel posted a recording video of voice actress Yoko Hikasa singing the opening theme song to the original Shaman King anime series, Over Soul

 

Hikasa is best known for playing Utahime Iori in Jujutsu Kaisen, Yoh Asakura in the new remake of Shaman King, and Mio Akiyama in K-On! While Over Soul is over two decades old, the song still packs a punch. Be sure to listen to the actress’s version below!

    Ahead of the release of CrosSing Collection Vol. 1 on September 21, a clip of Kana Hanazawa’s cover of Rain has been uploaded to YouTube. The song will be included as a bonus track on the album. 

     

    The track was used as the ending theme for Makoto Shinkai’s short anime film The Garden of Words, in which Hanazawa played the lead role.

    The cover song project CrosSing has become hugely popular, pulling in hundreds of millions of views on YouTube. The project has featured popular voice actors Maaya Uchida, Kana Hanazawa, and Akari Kito. 

     

    Recently, actress Aguri Onishi appeared on the project to sing the song Fuwa Fuwa Time from the anime series K-On! Onishi has appeared in popular anime series like Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club as Ayumu Uehara and Don’t Hurt Me, My Healer! as Carla. The artist chose to perform this track because K-On! is the series that got her hooked on anime. 

     

    The actress was shocked at how cute the song was and fell in love with it instantly. Onishi commented on how much fun she had singing it at karaoke in her middle and high school days, and she sings it with love for CrosSing, so be sure to check out the video below!

    On July 13, voice actor Yu Hayashi took to the stage to perform a cover of King Gnu’s Sakayume.

     

    Yu Hayashi is a popular voice actor and singer who is well-known as the voice of Manjiro Sano in Tokyo Revengers and Ino Takuma in Jujutsu Kaisen. He’s also member of the vocal unit SCREEN mode. The song the artist chose to perform, Sakayume, was used as the ending theme for the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 film. The actor commented that he put all his energy into his singing, as he has special feelings for the work, having performed in the film. The exquisite balance of Hayashi’s powerful vocals and delicate expressions create something that shouldn’t be missed.

    On June 29, the second song of the second season was released. Popular VTuber Leona Shishigami took to the booth to sing last cross, the opening theme from the anime series Reborn! Shishigami has over 280,000 YouTube subscribers and has earned high praise for her excellent singing skills. The VTuber chose the song as one of her most memorable, noting that Reborn was one of the first anime series she ever watched in the human world. Her powerful voice and impressive singing ability are on full display, and a lyric video has also been released!

    Japanese character accessory brand Anaguma, which lines its jewellery with natural stones, is releasing a new collection of cord bracelets in Japan on June 19 in collaboration with the anime series Shaman King. Pre-orders are now open.
