Attack on Titan, Seven Deadly Sins, Fairy Tail & Other Anime T-Shirts Releasing at UNIQLO

UNIQLO’s graphic t-shirt brand UT are celebrating the 60th anniversary of manga magazine Weekly Shonen Jump with a new t-shirt collection via their sub brand MANGA UT. The t-shirts will go on sale from August 12.

 

The collection covers six anime series serialised in the popular magazine including Hajime no IppoFairy TailThe Seven Deadly SinsAttack on TitanNegima! Magister Negi Magi, and Shōta no Sushi. Each t-shirt pays homage to its respective series, featuring iconic scenes that have stayed with fans, sound effects, and original designs that capture their worlds.

Hajime no Ippo

Hajime no Ippo is a boxing manga written and illustrated by George Morikawa. It follows Ippo Makunouchi, a shy high school student who suffers at the hands of bullies. He begins a career in boxing in search of the answer to the question “What is strength?” and battles his rivals and those around him to grow as an individual. The t-shirt design captures the lively energy seen in the characters and is surrounded by eye-catching SFX.

Fairy Tail

Fairy Tail is a fantasy adventure manga written and illustrated by Hiro Mashima. It follows the dragon slaying wizard Natsu and his tale of growth as part of the Fairy Tail guild. One of the t-shirts features four characters from the guild and the other is a large illustration of Acnologia, the main characters’ strongest enemy.

The Seven Deadly Sins

The Seven Deadly Sins is a fantasy battle adventure series written and illustrated by Nakaba Suzuki. It follows the titular characters each of whom represent the seven deadly sins. There are several t-shirt designs including one featuring Meliodas looking up to the sky and another of him and his comrades out on a peaceful trip. There is even a hand drawn illustration of Hawk, a talking pig and Meliodas’s pet, which was illustrated by Suzuki himself and UT’s editors.

Attack on Titan

Attack on Titan is an dark fantasy adventure series written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama. The story is set in a world where humanity lives within giant walls which help protect them from towering man-eating Titans. The terrifying t-shirt design features one of the Titans that live inside the walls.

Negima! Magister Negi Magi

Negima! Magister Negi Magi is an fantasy adventure and harem series written and illustrated by Ken Akamatsu. It follows the story of Negi, a wizard who becomes an English teacher at Mahora Academy, where he helps his class of students overcome their problems. He is also in search of his father who is known as a hero in the world of wizardry. There are two t-shirts, one featuring the main heroine Asuna Kagurazaka, and another of some of the other students in the class.

Shōta no Sushi

Shōta no Sushi is a food manga series written and illustrated by Daisuke Terasawa which follows the story of Sekiguchi Shota who works as an apprentice and aims to become a sushi chef. There are two t-shirt designs, one which features the manga’s logo and a slice of sushi and the other with the logo and a whole sushi platter.

    The UT GRAND PRIX (UTGP) is a design competition that started in 2005. The contest uses the T-shirt as a creative medium and invites everyone to freely express their creativity. This year, the competition is themed on the Peanuts comic strips by Charles M. Schulz which first hit the scene in the US back in 1950, over a hundred years ago.

    The Grand Prize is $20,000 and all winning designs will become products sold in UNIQLO stores worldwide in the summer of 2022. The winners of the top two prizes will be invited to the USA. There will also be an internship opportunity to be a member of the Charles M. Schulz creative associates team.

  • Attack on Titan The Final Season Part 2 Teaser Visual Released

    An event titled ‘MAPPA STAGE 2021 – 10th ANNIVERSARY -‘ was held in Japan on June 27 where a teaser visual was released for Part 2 of the Attack on Titan anime’s final season which shows Eren together with a mysterious girl.

    The event was attended by Yuki Kaiji (Eren Yaeger), Marina Inoue (Armin Alert), Ayane Sakura (Gabi Brown), the anime series director Yuichiro Hayashi, and composer Kohta Yamamoto who gave their thoughts and impressions on The Final Season.

    The final volume of the Attack on Titan manga released on June 9 which saw comments trending from fans around the world on the ending. Attack on Titan The Final Season Part 2 is set to air this winter.

  • UNIQLO x Tate Modern Launch UNIQLO Tate Play

    UNIQLO and British art gallery Tate Modern have signed a three-year global partnership. The two first came together for the UNIQLO Tate Lates event series which began in 2016. This new partnership brings about new free programme of playful activities for families of all ages. This summer, people are invited to transform the floor of the Turbine Hall at Tate Modern into a giant collaborative work of art at UNIQLO Tate Play: Mega Please Draw Freely. Tate will also release a t-shirt collection in collaboration with UNIQLO’s UT brand in 2022.

  • Attack on Titan Orchestra Concert Invites Line-Up of Famous Guest Artists

    An Attack on Titan orchestra concert has been announced and will take place at Pacifico Yokohama National Convention Hall on August 22, 2021. Scheduled to perform are guests are Hiroyuki Sawano and Kohta Yamamoto as well as guest vocalists Aimee Blackschleger, Eliana, Laco, and mpi. Priority tickets can be applied for by purchasing Volume 1 of the DVD or Blu-ray volume of Attack on Titan The Final Season which is set to be released in Japan on July 7.

  • YOASOBI x UNIQLO UT T-Shirt Collab Collection Releasing This July

    UNIQLO’s UT collection is a line of tees created in collaboration with other brands, anime, shows, and more. On July 2, UNIQLO is teaming up with the Japanese music duo YOASOBI to release an exclusive new collection.

     

    YOASOBI, which is comprised of Ayase and ikura, made their debut in 2020 with their hit song Yoru ni Kakeru. Since then, their music has continued to top charts in JApan.

     

    The collection is a fusion of fashion and music in women’s and kids designs featuring stills taken from seven of the duo’s iconic music videos including Yoru ni Kakeru, HalzionTabunGunjoHarukaEncore, and their new track Sangenshoku.

  • Devote Your Heart to Attack on Titan in the Final Survey Corps Project

    To commemorate the end of Attack on Titan‘s 12-year saga, the editorial team at Weekly Shonen Magazine launched the ‘Final Survey Corps Application’ project on June 9 which imagines the staff and fans as part of the Survey Corps to express their love for the series. The staff at Animate and TSUTAYA stores in Japan are currently donning Survey Corps uniforms. A special online exhibition will also be held by the magazine to give thanks to fans who have supported Attack on Titan for 12 years.

     

    Fans can use the all-new Survey Corps Maker service where they can upload their own photo or an illustration of themselves or an original character and writes words dedicated to the series. They are encourage to share this with other Survey Corps members around the world.

    Attack on Titan Online Exhibition

    The online exhibition is a virtual event that was conceived after the COVID-19 pandemic forced the for in-person event in Japan to be cancelled. But this shift is good news to fans outside Japan as it means everyone around the world can join – and it’s free.



    The event requires a quick sign-up, after which fans can enjoy looking through displays of official artwork. There’s also a merch shop with exclusive items to get your hands on. Please note that the exhibition features spoilers up to the final chapter.

    The online Japanese bookstore Rakuten Books is celebrating the release of Attack on Titan‘s final manga volume with eight new listings that will slash their way onto the website on October 15, 2021. Orders will be open for a limited time between June 9 and July 31.

     

    The Attack on Titan manga series began serialisation in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine in September 2009. The final volume was released on April 9, 2021, concluding Hajime Isayama’s internationally-acclaimed story.

  • Japan Celebrates Eren Jaeger’s Birthday With a 1-Month Party Schedule

    Japanese video streaming service GYAO! is now running a one-month celebration of Eren Jaeger’s birthday, the popular character from the hit anime series Attack on Titan, until April 30.

    A video of Yūki Kaji, the voice actor for Eren, was released to promote the celebration.
