Hatsune Miku Music Cafe Opening in Tokyo & Fukuoka

The Hatsune Miku Music Cafe is set to return for the third time this month. It will open in Akihabara, Tokyo on August 23 and in Hakata, Fukuoka on August 28.

 

The music cafe will be supported by VOCALOID music label KARENT. VOCALOID fans can look forward to dining while listening to music from their favourite characters―Miku, Luka, Rin, Len, MEIKO and KAITO―on high quality speakers and giant monitors.

Customers are able to request songs be played by picking from the record shelf. The huge discography will include the cafe’s official theme song and music video Jazz Chorus no Natsu Takenawa which is written and composed by buzzG.

 

Fans can look forward to character-inspired food and drinks and can get their hands on a range of exclusive merchandise with designs illustrated by Kisaragi Yuu.

And if you gather enough stamps on your stamp card―one per visit―you’ll be able to get priority access to a DJ event on October 6.

    Tokyobike is set to open a new shop in Fukuoka, its first branch outside of Tokyo. The shop will have its pre-opening this week on July 23 followed by its grand opening on August 1.     What is Tokyobike?

Specialising in bikes that can be enjoyed in the city and people’s everyday lives, the company now has over 200 stores in Japan, as well as three directly-managed shops in Tokyo and eight partner shops overseas.

     

    The company’s Tokyobike Plus brand is a concept shop made in collaboration with a range of the company’s unique partners and offers a “plus” factor and value that can only be experienced with Tokyobike, showcasing a range to customers that shows them how to enjoy the bicycle life.

     

    Tokyobike Plus Fukuoka is located in Yakuin which is just a 10-minute walk from Tenjin in central Fukuoka. It’s surrounded by bustling cafes, interior design shops, popular confectionery stores, and more. It’s also close to Ohori Park, Fukuoka Zoo and Botanical Garden, Ropponmatsu, and plenty of other places within 3km which can be easily reached by bike.

     

    The store offers bike repairs and maintenance, sells bike-related goods which can be sifted through with a complementary cup of coffee, and staff can give information to riders on how best to enjoy riding around Fukuoka. Its interior design was conceived by Makoto Obuchi of GO!design factory Inc. who is responsible for creating the designs for the Italian restaurant Cernia in Fukuoka, the Akasaka-based izakaya Machiya Akariya, Meshiya Koyama Parking in Kego, and more.

     

    To celebrate the opening of Tokyobike Plus Fukuoka, the first 80 customers will receive a free original Tokyobike hand towel designed by Kamawanu, a company specialising in making hand towels which are individually dyed using a traditional method known as chuusen.

    Tower Records is collaborating with Rilakkuma for “Rilakkuma x TOWER RECORDS Campaign 2020” which will run at Tower Records, TOWERmini, and Tower Records Online in Japan from August 1 to 30.f

    For the campaign, Tower Records selling a range of merchandise with exclusive designs illustrated for the event, and there’ll even be Rilakkuma themed cafes. Tower Records began collaborating with Rilakkuma on merchandise in 2009 and has done so every year since. This year sees the arrival of Chairoikoguma for the first time too.

    Yhose who use the Tower Records app to show their coupons in-store, they will receive the above-pictured selection of must-have exclusive goodies including a mirror, postcard, bag, and bookmark. These are available on a first-time, first-served basis. Additionally, Rilakkuma themed cafes will be held at TOWER CARDS CAFE branches in Omotesando, Nagoya SKYLE, and Sapporo PIVOT which will have entirely original menus and bonus items for dining there.

  • Sanrio Characters Come Together at Tokyo’s New POWDER ART CAFE HARAJUKU

    The new limited-time character cafe POWDER ART CAFE HARAJUKU is set to open in Harajuku, Tokyo from July 15, 2020 to mid-January 2021.

    From July 15 to mid-October, the cafe will be centred on the Top 10 characters of this year’s Sanrio Character Ranking, an annual event where fans around the world can vote for their favourite Sanrio characters. The cafe will subsequently celebrate the 45th anniversaries of both My Melody and Little Twin Stars until mid-January next year.

    At POWDER ART CAFE HARAJUKU, where the customers can draw their own designs on their orders, like latte art, Sanrio fans can look forward to a super cute menu line-up inspired by the adorable character roster.

  • Hamtaro Cafe 2020 to Open in Tokyo, Saitama, and Osaka

    LEGS COMPANY has announced that it will open three cafes based on the popular Japanese character Hamtaro in Tokyo and Saitama on July 30 and Osaka on July 31.

     

    Hamtaro is a manga and storybook series created and illustrated by Ritsuko Kawai. The series began serialisation in 1997 and an anime adaptation first broadcast back in 2000. More than 20 years later, Hamtaro continues to enjoy much popularity in Japan.

    Hamtaro Cafe 2020 will be themed around sunflowers and the sea, and will serve up a fun experience perfect for the hot summer. The Ham-Hams have come out of their Clubhouse to pay a visit to the seaside and enjoy the sun. There will be sunflower and ocean themed food, drinks, and desserts for everyone to munch on.

  • Hello Kitty Cafe to Open in Narita Airport’s Anime Deck This July

    KADOKAWA is set to open a Hello Kitty themed cafe on the Narita Anime Deck—which is located on the Main Building second floor of Narita International Airport Terminal 2—for a limited time from July 3, 2020 to October 2, 2020.

  • New Kaguya-sama: Love Is War Themed Menu Arrives in Akihabara

    Royal Host, a family restaurant in Akihabara, is collaborating with the popular TV anime series Kaguya-sama: Love Is War to serve two different menu line-ups. The first is currently running right now until July 5, which we covered recently. This time we’ll be taking a look at the upcoming second menu which will be served from July 6.

    Kaguya-sama: Love Is War is a romantic comedy manga series written and illustrated by Aka Akasaka. A 12-episode anime adaptation premiered in January. The series’s collaboration with Royal Host last year was such a success that the restaurant chain decided to bring it back again.

  • Street Fighter Exhibition at Fukuoka City Science Museum Rescheduled For July

    The Street Fighter exhibition “Street Fighter: Ore Yori Tsuyoi Yatsura no Sekai Ten” (Street Fighter Exhibition: The World of Those Stronger Than Me) was originally scheduled to run from March 14 to May 24 but was cancelled due to the COVID-19 outbreak. However, it has been announced that the exhibition has been rescheduled and will take place from July 1 to September 22.

     

    A ticket system is in place where attendees need to book a time and date in advance as a precaution against the novel coronavirus. Tickets can be bought in advance from the exhibition’s official website.

    Street Fighter is a fighting video game franchise developed and published by Capcom. The first game was released in 1987 for arcades. Street Fighter II was released in 1991 is hailed as a landmark title in the series and would set the standard of fighting games that followed. The latest instalment to the series, Street Fighter V, was released in 2016, with Street Fighter V: Champion Edition following in 2019.

     

    The Street Fighter exhibition is set to display treasured documents and art pieces from the franchise, as well as showcase a cabinet of the arcade games. With full support and cooperation from Capcom, the exhibition is a must-visit for all fans of the influential fighting game.

  • Hello Kitty Takes Over Osaka’s Maid Cafe ‘@home cafe’

    The Osaka branch of @home cafe—a chain of maid cafes that originated in Akihabara—is collaborating with Sanrio to serve up a Hello Kitty experience from July 1 for a limited time, with special decorations, food, and exclusive merchandise.

     

    @home cafe Akihaabra collaborates with Sanrio characters every year. In 2018, it joined hands with My Melody and Cinnamoroll, and in 2019 with Pompompurin. In January this year, it teamed up with Hello Kitty, who is now heading to the Osaka cafe.

    The cafe will be decorated with cute pictures of Hello Kitty and her twin sister Mimmy, as well as pink and yellow gingham designs for each character.

    The maids at @home cafe Osaka will also wear special Hello Kitty and Mimmy maid outfits for the duration of the collaboration.

  • Help Fukuoka’s Hotels During COVID-19 With Crowdfunding Project

    Fukuoka’s tourism industry is suffering greatly as a result of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, and so the city has launched a crowdfunding project to ask for people’s help and support.

     

    By donating, you can receive a special ticket which can be used when travel returns to normal which can be used at hotels you have donated towards. The tiers are priced at ¥3,000 and ¥5,000, which will get you tickets priced at ¥3,300 and ¥5,500 respectively to be used in the future. If you’re thinking of travelling to Fukuoka, or already had plans booked to go there, then consider donating towards the city.

    Fukuoka is a city loved by Japanese people and foreigners alike. It has a rich food culture, incredible festivals, a rich history, and an amalgamation of urban and rural scenery.

  • Hatsune Miku and EGOIST Tickets Now On Sale For Niconico Chokaigi 2020

    Niconico Chokaigi 2020 is set to run from April 12 to 19, and online tickets have now gone live for the opening acts: Hatsune Miku and EGOIST.

    Niconico Chokaigi is an annual festival held by Japan’s largest video streaming site “Niconico” which aims to recreate Niconico’s virtual world in real life. The event is a melting pot of Japan’s internet culture and the biggest internet festival in the country. It teams up with various media platforms and businesses to further promote Japan’s internet culture to the people.

    Hatsune Miku are set to perform as the opening acts on the first day of the festival, April 12, at 17:00 (JST) and 19:00 (JST) respectively.
