The “Pancake Prince” Opens A Brand New Pancake Restaurant in Omotesando

After a year of extensive research eating pancake after pancake, the one known as the “Pancake Prince” will open another branch of the Pancake restaurant VERY FANCY® in Omotesando on September 11. This restaurant will feature a unique Omotesando menu. 

The real identity of the legendary Pancake Prince is Satoru Sugimoto. In just one year, he visited a total of over 200 pancake restaurants in Japan and even overseas. His endless research led him to crafting a series of special recipes, which consist of high quality ingredients such as low viscosity wheat flour, aluminium-free baking powder, buttermilk and homemade cheese. The pancakes are fried carefully, creating a fluffy pancake with a new half-baked texture. 

 

VERY FANCY® has launched a brand new online advanced booking system which allows customers to quickly take to their seats without having to wait. Thanks to this new system, the restaurant has now become queueless. 

The menu at the brand new restaurant is based on the restaurant’s standard pancake menu. The additional Omotesando menu is full of original ingredients and toppings that are unique to Omotesando. If you turn up to this branch, you can enjoy a lot more than just pancakes as there will be a variety of collaboration contents offered as well. This restaurant has also prepared a kid’s menu and baby chairs.

    The Pokémon Cafe in Nihonbashi, Tokyo has revealed its Halloween food and drink line-up for the spooky season which will arrive early on September 7 be served until October 31.

    This year’s Halloween plate features Pikachu wearing a witch’s hat. This filling plate features a pumpkin salad, spaghetti and more. Plenty to keep you going until the late-night candy snacking!

    The Capitol Hotel Tokyu in Tokyo has revealed that  that it will serve up its Halloween Sweets Selection again this year at the hotel’s pastry boutique ORIGAMI located on floor B2F. The confectionery chefs have spun some spooky fun into this collection of 10 cute treats.

    The shaved ice is an original homemade blend of full-bodied white miso cheese syrup and fig syrup. The milk white and light pink contrast make this one beautiful and delicious-looking dessert.

    SKINCARE LOUNGE BY ORBIS is the debut concept shop by Japanese beauty company ORBIS, and it’s set to open in Omotesando this summer. The shop’s teaser website opened on May 13 where information on its conception, special content, interviews with the company’s partners, and more will roll out in the run up to the grand opening.

    ORBIS established themselves in 1984, and in 1987 launched their mail-order service. Since then, their mission has been to “create a world filled with people who are true to themselves, think positively, and lead lives of beauty.” They believe in the beauty each of us has inside them and want to unlock its full potential.

     

    SKINCARE LOUNGE BY ORBIS aims to have people learning about their own skin and to unlock its full potential. “Feel,” “Learn,” and “Take” are the keywords of the concept shop.

    The shop’s creative directors are Hisato Ogata, who is a designer and innovator at takram, and Momo Kudo of Tokyo-based architecture and interior design studio MMA Inc. They are also supported by George Amano of GEORGE CREATIVE COMPANY.

    SKINCARE LOUNGE BY ORBIS has two floors. On the first floor, customers are free to test various products as well as learn about the correct way to look after their skin.     Cafe pudding a la mode is a nostalgic flavour to Japanese childrenーsomething which was kept in mind in the creation of this enormous version. The pudding is made with milk from Jersey cattle and a caramel sauce that’s made with maple sugar for richness.

  • Kaori’s Easy Recipe: Learn to Make a Gudetama Parfait

    With just a small bit of ingenuity, turn everyday food into something cute using Kaori’s easy recipe! With a few simple ideas, an ordinary recipe magically transforms into a cute dish.

     

    Today, I’ll be showing you how to make a Gudetama parfait made with a yogurt mousse and topped with orange and peach jelly.

     

    Ingredients
    Yogurt Mousse Ingredients:
    100g sugar free yogurt
    50ml fresh cream
    20g sugar
    3g gelatin
    *With the gelatin, mix well with 1 tbsp water

     

    Mikan & Yellow Peach Jelly Ingredients:
    100ml mikan juice (or any orange juice)
    150g tinned peaches (with syrup)
    5g gelatin
    *With the gelatin, mix well with 1 tbsp water

    ①Mix the sugar into the yogurt well. Add in 7/10 of the fresh cream and mix well again.

    ②Microwave the gelatin for 10-20 seconds at 500w. Add into the mixture from ① and mix well.

    Once the mixture has set in about ⅓ of a glass, add sliced chocolate on the inside for the eyes and mouth. I cut mine into shape using a toothpick.


    Make sure the chocolate is properly fixed to the glass at this point.

    Put your yellow peach and mikan orange into a blender (but not the gelatin part). The syrup of the peaches is already sweet so there’s no need to add sugar.

     

    ②Microwave the gelatin for 10-20 seconds at 500w. Add into the blended mixture and mix well.

     

    Pour on top of the mix inside the glass. If there are any peach pieces left, cut them up and use them as toppings.

    Top with fresh cream and chopped fruit, and you’re done! I stuck Gudetama’s face on well and good so it looks like his chocolate face is on the outside. Be sure to try doing the same.

  • Rilakkuma & Kiiroitori Confections by Tabemas Coming to Lawson Convenience Stores

    Character-inspired Japanese confectionery series Tabemas has revealed that its next batch of sweet treats will see Rilakkuma and Kiiroitori arrive at Lawson convenience stores in Japan (excluding Lawson Store 100 branches) on April 28, 2020.

    Tabemas Rilakkuma 2020 Strawberry Rilakkuma/Strawberry Kiiroitori – ¥285 Each (Tax Included)

    The adorable confections feature Rilakkuma donning a sweet strawberry hat while Kiiroitori has gone the full fruity mile by dressing snug in a strawberry onesie. As you’d imagine, both of these sweet treats are strawberry flavoured.

    ‘Tabemas’ is an abbreviation of the Japanese words taberareru masukotto, meaning ‘mascots that you can eat.’ It is a Japanese confectionery series that combines well-known characters and Japanese sweets made from ingredients like red bean paste, sugar and rice flour. The sweets are also made with a dough called “nerikiri” which is used in making traditional Japanese wagashi sweets.

     

    What better way to spend your time indoors right now than with a cute Rilakkuma or Kiiroitori sweet?
