Kenshi Yonezu performed to almost 70,000 fans in his recent tour, which concluded at the legendary Nippon Budokan on January 10th. The singer-songwriter played 22 concerts across 16 cities which saw a record attendance rating for Yonezu in this proactive tour to innovate over all performances to date.
Kenshi Yonezu released his new album BOOTLEG on November 1, 2017. The record ranked number one on Oricon, Billboard JAPAN and iTunes and enjoyed immense sales in its first week. To this day, Yonezu continues to rank highly.
But it doesn’t stop there, as he even stole the number one spot on Oricon’s 2017 Breakthrough Artist listing at the end of last year. Yonezu continues to be praised across Japan, and it’s been shown that he enjoys success with people in their teens all the way into their 50s. Thriving in this success, Yonezu embarked on a tour around the country.
The tour was filled with his album’s biggest hits. He was greeted with such elation from fans even in places he had never been to and venues he had never played at, and they were each met with a memorable live performance.
The floor LEDs reflected off the countless mirrors at the back of the stage, captivating the audience with fantastic illuminations expressing the emotions of each song that changed the feeling of the stage with each passing track.
The tour finale was held at Nippon Budokan on January 10th. Kenshi Yonezu danced to LOSER for the very first time, together with dance teacher Tomohiko Tsujimoto, and with Koharu Suguwara for Moonlight. The dancing elevated the songs even more, drawing the crowd into their enthralling display.
The tour proved unprecedented thanks to the many people involved, including those who worked on BOOTLEG and those involved with the shows.
Kenshi Yonezu announced a new song titled Lemon which was written as the main theme song for the TBS Friday drama “Unnatural” which began airing on January 12th.
