Harmony Land is Sanrio amusement park in Oita Prefecture, and their popular cast of characters are readying themselves for a special Halloween event this year.

 

Ghost Kitty & Ghost Cake – ¥600

 

One of the attractions at the park is Kitty Castle, which is Hello Kitty’s house. For Halloween, her abode will be decorated with lots of cute Halloween decorations. Get your photo taken at the bat wing photo spot and say hi to Hello Kitty who will be dressed as a ghost.

There’s plenty of other photo opportunities as well, like the giant pumpkin heads of popular Sanrio characters. And don’t miss the Halloween parade either.

  • All-Day Puro Halloween Party to Begin at Sanrio Puroland on September 14

    The annual autumn-time event at Sanrio Puroland ‘Puro Halloween Party’ will take place at the indoor theme park from September 14 to October 31.

     

    The theme this year is ‘Halloween Rock.’ It promises to be bigger and better than last year’s event. A whole cast of Sanrio characters will make an appearance, including Cinnamoroll and friends.

    The event will be split into two parts this halloween: DAY TIME ~Party People Time~ and NIGHT TIME ~Horror People Time~.

    During the daytime, you can look forward to the attractions taking on a Halloween theme, and the Sanrio cast dressed up in Halloween costumes.

    Amongst the attractions taking on a spooky theme this year is the Sanrio character boat ride which will be decked out in pumpkins, clowns and other little Halloween decorations.

    The third floor Rainbow Hall will also be home to a Halloween photo spot that’ll make it look like you’re being gobbled up by a pumpkin!

    And for kids only, there will be a trick-or-treat greeting event with the fluffy purple kitten character Mewkledreamy. Maybe they’ll get some candy from Mew…? All the characters will be dressed up super cute so be sure to meet them all.

    When it turns to nighttime, several new themed attractions will open their creaky doors to the public, all of which you cannot run away from. This includes the Kurayami no Sanrio Character Boat Ride in the dark, the Ghost Pierrot Sneaking Horror House, and more. Sanrio are teaming up with Obaken, a horror attraction in Tokyo that offers top class scares and incorporates an escape element with varying difficulty levels. People of all ages can look forward to some real scares!

    Opening the night part of the event will be the Halloween Rock Live Parade, a brand new parade running for this event only.

    There will of course be a food menu perfect for Halloween-time too. Pick from the cute daytime menu or the spooky nighttime menu.

    So that guests can enjoy the Halloween party even more, those who attend the event dressed up in a full costume will be able to buy a discounted passport ticket.

  • The Harajuku & Umeda Pompompurin Cafés Reveal New Menus for Halloween

    The Harajuku and Umeda branches of the Pompompurin Café, which is based on the popular Sanrio character Pompompurin, have unveiled their Halloween menus which will be served from September 1 to October 31.

     

    Pompompurin, who came second in the 2018 Sanrio Character Awards, is joined by his best hamster friend Muffin in this special themed menu.

     

    Purin the Mage’s Magical Stew: ¥1,290 (+Tax)

     

    This magical and mellow tasting stew contains three different Halloween colours, orange, black and purple, each with their own distinct flavours. The orange is carrot, the black is squid ink, and the purple is sweet potato paste. Purin looks so cute dressed as a mage!

     

    Black Cat Muffin Trick Pasta: ¥1,390 (+Tax)

     

    Muffin went and turned this pasta completely black with his magic abilities! The pasta is made with squid ink and is topped with tomato sauce. It features a Muffin as a black cat made of mashed potato. The dish also comes with cute monsters made of zucchini and a salad mixed with pumpkin.

     

    Happy Halloween Purin: ¥600 (+Tax*)

     

    This rich pumpkin purin is crowned lavishly with purple sweet potato cream. It’s filled with the flavours of fall, and when you pour over the caramel sauce it becomes even tastier. It also comes with monster made from gateau chocolate. This dessert is great if you’ve still got room in your belly after a meal.

  • Disney Halloween 2018: Ghosts to Haunt Tokyo Disneyland & Tokyo DisneySea

    Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea are currently celebrating the 35th anniversary of Tokyo Disney Resort with their Happiest Celebration event which is running until March 25, 2019.

     

    The spooky season will soon arrive at the parks again this year as they get ready for the Disney Halloween event which will begin on September 11 and last until October 31.

    The theme of this year’s Halloween celebration at Tokyo Disneyland is ‘ghosts,’ and the scary bunch are getting ready to spook the pants off guests arriving to the park.

     

    This year marks the arrival of a new parade titled Spooky “Boo!” Parade where the creepers will be looking for new recruits amongst the Disney cast and guests. Everyone can look forward to joining the ghosts in a spine-chilling party.

    The park will be fitted out with appropriate spooky decorations, and Celebration Street, the main area of Tokyo Disneyland’s World Bazaar, will get in on the Halloween action at night.

    Over at Tokyo DisneySea, the park will once again bewitch all, with familiar Disney villains joining the cast to unroll the Halloween Vibe.

    Mediterranean Harbor, one of the themed lands at Tokyo DisneySea, will transform into The Villains’ World where bad guys from the Disney films will put on a Halloween Party. Mickey & Minnie will also join them by dressing as villains, inviting the guests to get in on the fun.

    The park will be filled with mysterious decorations to fit the villain theme, so if you’re a fan of the bad guys, you’re going to have a blast at Tokyo DisneySea.

    Guests can also enjoy dressing up* Disney characters again this year at both Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea.

    Halloween will hit the Disney Hotel and Disney Resort Line too.

  • Sanrio Virtual Festival 2023 in Sanrio Puroland to Bring Fans Into the Metaverse

    The Metaverse event that was a smash hit in 2021 will be returning in 2023! Sanrio Virtual Festival 2023 in Sanrio Puroland, one of the world’s largest music festivals blending both the real and virtual worlds, will be held starting January 13, 2023.

     

    A lineup of high-profile performers has been announced, including Airi Suzuki, SKY-HI, Yabai T-Shirts Yasan, and Aoi Fuji. Popular Sanrio characters such as Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll, and Kuromi will also appear, and visitors will be able to experience the virtual Puroland by utilizing unique avatars and taking part in a number of exciting events.

     

    The 2021 event was incredibly popular, and the 2023 version will increase the duration and amount of content available. To do this, Puroland has joined forces with VRChat, a well-known US company and social platform. Artists, VTubers, and Sanrio characters will perform in a massive space on B5 of Virtual Sanrio Puroland, and fans can enjoy live performances while also communicating with other guests!

     

    Highlights of SANRIO Virtual Festival 2023 in Sanrio Puroland

    17 Artists Announced (So Far) to Perform During Virtual Music Festival!

    Artists like Airi Suzuki, SKY-HI, and Yabai T-Shirts Yasan will take to the LUNA STAGE (*fee required), with virtual artists including Aoi Fuji appearing on the FUTURE STAGE (*fee required.)

    Hello Kitty and other Sanrio characters will also appear at CHILL PARK, each giving a mini live performance. The second artist lineup and performance timetable will be announced in early December.

  • 60th Anniversary Sanrio Exhibition: The Beginning of Kawaii to Open at Hokkaido Museum of Modern Art in February 2023

  • The #KuromifyTheWorld Project Celebrates First Anniversary with Special Week of Events

    The #KuromifyTheWorld campaign is already one year old! Created to share the adorable Sanrio character Kuromi with the world, fans will be invited to celebrate this milestone from October 20 until October 31 with special events in Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya. 

     

    Kuromi’s Drink Stand will be open for a limited time in Tokyo and Osaka. Customers will be invited to choose the color of their drink according to their mood, and will also be able to customize it with tags, acrylic stands, and stickers! An original photo spot will also be set up beside each drink stand, and those wanting to attend can enter the lottery to win tickets now. 

    Sanrio’s first and largest Kuromi ad truck will also be driving through the streets of Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka during the event week. 

     

    Kuromi will also be teaming up with (G)I-DLE, a popular five-member global idol group from South Korea. Campaigns are planned to appear in Hangzhou, Suzhou, Taiwan, Korea, North America, and Europe.

  • Terrifying Halloween Night Yokai Tour to be Held at Kokuminshukusha Shodoshima in Kagawa Prefecture

    In conjunction with the autumn segment of Setouchi Triennale 2022, the Yokai Halloween 2022 event will be held for the first time at the Yokai Art Museum in Shodoshima in Kagawa. During the event, guests can take part in the Halloween Night Yokai Tour on Saturdays, which will invite them to transform into terrifying ghouls! Each guest will receive a yokai mask and will be tasked to test their courage in this unique Halloween event. Those visiting the museum in costume will receive a discount, and visitors can also enjoy some spooky treats at the Yokai Bar. This is one museum horror fans won’t want to miss!

    Visit the Yokai Art Museum at Night 

    Unlike daytime, the Yokai Art Museum is filled with a mysterious energy at night. With a flashlight in hand, staff members will lead guests on a tour through the museum, which exhibits more than 800 yokai sculptures. Visitors can wear yokai masks and costumes, and unlike a haunted house, you won’t need to worry about yokai jumping out at you. However, the staff may ask you to keep an eye out for anything mysterious. Guests are permitted to take as many photos as they like inside the museum, so be sure to share your experience on social media!

    Too Realistic! Enjoy Finger Cookies at the Yokai Bar

    At the Yokai Bar attached to the museum, guests can find these terrifying finger cookies! These were made in collaboration with FUJI, a popular snack shop in Shidoshima. While tasty, they might be a little too realistic for some people. These will be available in two flavors: spicy and sweet. 

     

    Rent a Halloween Lantern for Free

    A Night Walk through the Shidoshima Maze will invite visitors to carry a Halloween-themed lantern through the town. This event is being held to promote tourism in the town at night, and lanterns will be free to rent! These will be available in different colors from the first floor of the nearby Shodoshima International Hotel. Shodoshima, known as the City of Mazes, has over 60 streets with three-way intersections and many mysterious alleys. Walking through the town at night will be an experience you’ll never forget, especially during the spookiest time of the year!

  • NAKED’s Halloween Event Coming to Tokyo Tower for a Limited Time

    Digital art collective NAKED will hold a special Halloween projection mapping show at Tokyo Tower! The Tokyo Tower City Light Fantasia ~Halloween Party 2022~ event will run from September 16 until October 31 on the 2nd floor of the tower’s main deck. 

     

    NAKED has collaborated with Tokyo Tower in the past to create shows inspired by the seasons. These incredible illuminations captivate audiences at night, and this fall, visitors will be captivated by autumn leaves dancing in the breeze along with silvergrass swaying and the sound of chirping insects. The scene will eventually change into something more spooky–a ghost will appear alongside witches, bats, and pumpkins! The main deck will be enveloped in Halloween colors perfect for a fall photoshoot!

  • Sanrio Puroland Begins Autumn’s Puro Halloween Event

    From September 9 until November 1, Sanrio Puroland is celebrating the spookiest season of the year with the Puro Halloween event. On the first day of the event, guests immediately showed up to enjoy the new additions to the park, including the light show, Halloween photo spot, and an exclusive food menu filled with autumn flavors. 

     

    The theme of this year’s event is the popular Halloween phrase “Trick or Treat!” Popular Sanrio characters are all dressed up in spooky costumes, with each joining Team Trick or Team Treat!

    Starting October 1, a Halloween version of the Mewkledreamy March stage show will wow audiences. Everyone’s favorite characters Mew, Peko, and Su will appear in new costumes, so don’t miss it!

  • Sanrio Releases New Collection Inspired by Gyaru from the 90s and 2000s

    On September 14, Sanrio will release an adorable new collection of goods inspired by 90s gyaru fashion! Fans of Japanese pop culture may be familiar with the gyaru subculture, and now, you can grab your favorite Sanrio character all dressed up like a fashionable girl on the streets of Tokyo during the Heisei era. These items will be available at Sanrio stores nationwide, Sanrio corners in department stores, and Sanrio online. The lineup includes goods featuring Hello Kitty, My Melody, Kuromi, and Cinnamoroll.

    The handmade donut shop Floresta will be offering some adorable Pochacco and Pekkle donuts from September 10 until September 30, 2022. Customers can snag them at Floresta locations and the online store.

    Floresta specializes in donuts made from all-natural ingredients, and these adorable collaboration donuts are sure to put a smile on Sanrio fans’ faces!

     

    These donuts are made with Floresta’s special white chocolate mixed with strawberry powder and pumpkin powder. Not overly sweet, these goodies will suit anyone’s palate.

     

    Although these sweet treats may be colorful, they were made with all-natural ingredients and are free of synthetic colors, fragrances, and preservatives. Many customers have said that the natural taste is totally different from that of standard donuts, so why not give it a try with family or friends?
