Kaori’s Easy Recipe: Learn to Make a Pompompurin Cookie Shot

10.February.2019 | FEATURES / FOOD

With just a small bit of ingenuity, turn everyday food into something cute using Kaori’s easy recipe! With a few simple ideas, an ordinary recipe magically transforms into a cute dish.

In this recipe you’ll learn how to make a “Pompompurin Cookie Shot,” perfect for Valentine’s Day! It may look difficult but I have made it so it’s nice and easy to make!

1: Ingredients/Equipment

2 glasses or purin cups

40g unsalted butter or margarine

75g flour

20g sugar

1 cup milk

Chocolate

2:

①Knead together the unsalted butter, flour and sugar.

②Add the milk in little by little while kneading. Knead until the it has a consistency moister than regular cookie dough.

③Coat one glass with a little oil or butter.

④Affix the dough from step ② around the inside of the glass as shown in the photo below.

✩It’s best to make your dough a little softer than regular cookie dough to prevent cracks from forming.

✩Press the batter firmly to ensure air doesn’t get into it. If you don’t do this then the batter will split.

⑤Place aluminium foil into the centre of the dough to stop it from expanding when baking.

⑥Shape a cup handle and Pompompurin’s ears with leftover dough from step ④.

✩Bake for approximately 10-minutes at 190° with the handle and ears. Remove the handle and ears and bake the cup for a further 5-10 minutes.

3: Melt the chocolate over a bain marie.

4: Remove the aluminium ball and once the cup has cooled remove the cookie and smear in the chocolate.

✩It’s possible to remove the baked cookie smoothly by coating with butter but it will make it break easily so ensure to do it carefully.

The inside of the cookie will look a little uneven after removing the aluminium ball but you won’t be able to see it after adding the chocolate.

Once completely cooled use the leftover chocolate to draw on Pompompurin’s facial features and use it to attach the handle and ears. After attaching the handle and ears hold them in place for a moment for the chocolate to  harden. You can make a hat from the remaining chocolate but I made one from sliced chocolate.

All done!

    24.November.2018 | FEATURES / FOOD

With just a small bit of ingenuity, turn everyday food into something cute using Kaori’s easy recipe! With a few simple ideas, an ordinary recipe magically transforms into a cute dish. In this character recipe you will learn how to make a “Pompompurin Steamed  Cheese Bread” (labeled CHEESE STEAM UP BREAD). Did you know that recently decorating a “steamed cheese bread” is the in thing to be doing right now? So, in this recipe I will explain about how to decorate a steamed cheese bread in a Christmas fashion.   1:Ingredients 1 steamed cheese bread 1 sheet of nori (dried seaweed) Chocolate plastic Red coloring powder   2: Trace an illustration of your favorite character onto a baking sheet. I chose Pompompurin. Next, I thought it would be cute to indent the face and highlight the ears so I cut out these parts from the baking sheet. 3: Next, place the face cutout onto the surface of the cheese bread and cut the bread in line with the cutout. Remove this part and set it aside. This part will be used to make the ears and hands. The surface below the removed part might be a bit uneven so using the back end of a chopstick make this area flat. 4: Turn over the removed part and flatten this surface using the back end of a chopstick. Place the ear cutout onto the surface and cut the ears out. Using the remaining part cut out some round hands. 5:Color the plastic chocolate red and form the hat and boots. Using the white plastic chocolate, add the white parts. Using a puncher, cut out the eyes, nose and mouth from the laver seaweed. Place all of these parts on the surface of the cheese bread, and voila, your “Pompompurin Steamed Cheese Bread” is complete. • Kaori’s Easy Recipe: Learn to Make Pompompurin Sweet Potato Tarts

    04.May.2019 | FEATURES / FOOD

With just a small bit of ingenuity, turn everyday food into something cute using Kaori’s easy recipe! With a few simple ideas, an ordinary recipe magically transforms into a cute dish.   In this recipe, you'll learn how to make Pompompurin sweet potato tarts using all ingredients you can buy on the market. Despite being so simple to make, its appearance makes it look as though you've put a lot of work into making it. Though spring is bringing the warmth with it, these tarts won't melt, so they're perfect as gifts♡   Ingredients/Materials Store bought tart cases Store bought sweet potato kit (I bought mine from MUJI)   1. Deposit and mix according to your sweet potato package instructions.   From that prepare 15g x 2 for the ears, 5g x 2 for the hands, and 15g for the hat. Shape the ears with a water drop-shaped cutter, the hands with an oval-shaped cutter, and the hat with a round-shaped cutter.   I made mine according to the MUJI kit I bought as shown in the photo below. 2. Smear the remaining batter into the tart case. Be sure to do this gently so as to not crack the tart. 3. Mix egg yolk with a little bit of water and smear across the surface. When doing this step make sure to flatten out any cracks. ✩Gently smearing with your hand is better than using a brush or spatula. It will make it look more beautiful. 4. Once you have coated the surface as pictured below it's time to get cooking. My MUJI sweet potato kit instructions say to bake at 180℃ for 10 minutes, but since we're making Pompompurin we don't want it to brown, so cook at 150℃ for 10 minutes. After the 10-minutes is up it's to add the ears, hands and hat. Place them on, reduce the temperature to 140℃ and cook for a further 5-10-minutes.   You may need to adjust times and temperature according to your oven to ensure no browning. 5. Once it's cooked, leave to fully cool. You can then proceed to start drawing Purin's eyes. Please reference the video I made below♪ I fixed the parts on with chocolate as you'll see in the video. I then cut up some strawberries for Purin to hold and finally drew on the eyes, nose and mouth.
