To celebrate Hello Kitty’s 45th anniversary the popular Sanrio character is collaborating with the EGG & SPUMA cafe in Shinjuku Lumine EST from January 16 to March 31.
The cafe will transform into a Hello Kitty paradise with decorations and themed food galore.
EGG & SPUMA’s hugely popular tea party set will be turned into a special Hello Kitty 45th anniversary version. It comes with a roll cake tower, Hello Kitty’s favourite apple pie, and the cafe’s special tuna and mayo fluffy souffle pancakes. Other cute desserts include “Hello Kitty’s Colourful Parfait” which is topped with a panna cotta Hello Kitty, “Hello Kitty’s Fuwa Fuwa Souffle Pancakes” which are topped with an apple compote and custard, and more.
Hello Kitty herself will also be at the cafe on January 16 at 12pm, 2pm and 4pm for 30 minutes each slot. The first 30 people for each will be able to take a photo with her, but you must first order from the themed menu, post on Twitter with the hashtag #eggandspuma and show the staff.

Gomachan x Gudetama Café
For the first time ever, everybody’s favourite lazy egg is collaboration with Goma-chan from the popular comedy manga Shonen Ashibe. The menu features many fun dishes, one of which is the “Gudetama & Goma-chan Stew,” a chicken cream stew that takes on a light blue colour representing the ocean. It is filled with fish shaped carrots and stars which surround Goma-chan in the middle who is swimming with Gudetama on his back.

Captain Marvel Café (December 15 – March 31)
To celebrate the upcoming release of Captain Marvel, which is set to hit theatres on March 8, a themed cafe called MARVEL CAFE －HERO’S ORIGIN－ is now open until March 31 at CAFE Lab. on floor 1F in the north building of Grand Front Osaka. It is part of the Marvel: Age of Heroes Exhibition currently taking place at KNOWLEDGE CAPITAL on floor B1F. The theme of the cafe is “Hero’s Origin” which is a reference to the movie itself that will depict the origin of Captain Marvel and how she will play into the final Avengers film. In this character recipe you’ll learn how to make a “Sanrio Character’s Pressed Sushi”, the perfect dish for a new year♡
1：Ingredients
Sashimi of your choice (for this time, try salmon, snapper and tuna) Shredded cooked egg

Dried seaweed puncher3：
1 Put saran wrap into the pudding cup
2 Put in sliced sashimi with a slight overlap
3 Let the vinegar rice cool a bit and stuff it tightly.
4 Wrap it well and let the sashimi and rice keep for a while.

Cut the white Kamaboko out with a cat shaped cookie cutter (for Hello Kitty).
Cut the green Kamaboko out with a round shaped cookie cutter. Place the small round eyes on the round shaped face.(for Keroppi)Cut the yellow Kamaboko out with a bear shaped cookie cutter, then take the ear pieces away, and replace them with raindrop shaped Kamaboko. Use pasta to fix Shimeji mushroom cooked in a microwave for the hat(for Pompom purin).
Put seaweed-eyes and nose on each face.
☆All cookie cutters except the aluminium one, and Kitty’s bow, are available at Seria.

Take Sushi from picture3 out and turn upside down on the green shiso.
Place shredded cooked egg, boiled podded pea, salmon roe, kamaboko on the picture5 and your pressed sushi is complete.

Today, I will show you how to make wreath-shaped bread that is perfect for Christmas♡
1. Ingredients
250g bread flour
2 tsp yeast
2 tbsp icing sugar
1/2 tsp salt
50g unsalted butter
1/2 tsp matcha powder
1 egg (approx. 52g)
100ml lukewarm water

Add the bread flour into the centre of a bowl. Add the sugar, yeast and matcha powder onto one side of the bowl as shown in the picture below. Crack and egg and add the salt onto the other side. Pour the lukewarm water over the yeast and mix everything with a wooden spoon. When everything is combined add the unsalted butter and knead with your hands. Roll into a ball and leave to ferment.
☆It will take take about 30 minutes at 40℃
☆If you own an electric mixer or home bakery it’s perfectly fine to do everything up to now in a machine.

Once the mix has risen, divide into three equal parts and leave again for about 15 minutes. Cover with cling film or a tea towel to ensure the mix doesn’t become dry. Afterwards, gently roll into a spherical shape as shown in the photo.

Roll the mix into a long shape that spans about 50-60cm. Line all three up on their sides and begin to braid. Once this is complete, tie them up into a wreath shape and leave to ferment again.
☆It will take take 20-25 minutes at 40℃
Once the second fermentation is complete, cook at 180℃ for 7 minutes, then lower the temperature to 150℃ and cook for a further 7 minutes. The timings may differ depending on your oven so be sure to make any necessary adjustments.

Leave to fully cool and tie a ribbon around it.
Sprinkle with icing sugar, add some Christmas decorations like the mistletoe picks below and you’re done. The Hello Kitty decorations are modelling chocolates.

To celebrate the return of Urusei Yatsura after 36 long years, a themed cafe will be coming to four cities in Japan for a limited time! The first cafe will open on December 1, 2022.
Urusei Yatsura is a manga series by Rumiko Takahashi that ran in Weekly Shonen Sunday from 1978 until 1987. An anime series aired in 1981 and became a massive hit with audiences, and understandably, it is still loved by anime and manga fans today.

The second Tabekko Doubutsu Cafe Stand event opened in Omotesando on November 1, 2022. Paying homage to the classic snack first released in 1978, the cafe features a number of tasty snacks inspired by the thin animal-shaped cookies popular around the world.
This second event will run through January 9, 2023. Reservations are required, and many dates were completely sold out prior to the event’s start date, particularly on weekends. We decided to visit, anxious to see what the fuss is all about.
We were first shocked to see the popular animals enjoying oden! Original goods featuring the characters enjoying the quintessential Japanese winter dish are only available at the cafe. From acrylic keychains to figures, visitors can snag some adorable merchandise to commemorate their trip to the exclusive event. Why not snag some items that would be useful on a daily basis, like a notebook or an apron?
For food, visitors can snag a special Oden Set and Chinese Dumplings, both perfect for the winter. The oden features popular ingredients like egg, daikon, fish cake, and mochikinchaku, each branded with the popular animal characters. Drinks include soy milk, green tea milk, and milk tea.
In addition to the exclusive Lion Cake which is limited to 25 servings a day, guests can find chocolate bananas and other sweets on the menu, including a Sweets Set limited to those reserving special seats at the venue. For every ¥1,000 spent on food and drink items, customers will receive one Tabekko Doubutsu trading card!
The exhibition space is a must-see for fans of this legendary snack, filled with rare works including an adorable and very colorful print of every animal holding a bowl of oden. Of course, a photo spot has been set up for visitors to take some prime shots for social media!
Don’t miss the animal meet and greet, which is making its triumphant return from the last event! Visitors can interact with different animals on different days, so check the official Twitter page (@tabekko_cafe) for the schedule and more information! A collaboration cafe and pop-up shop inspired by the popular anime series Tokyo Revengers will open again this year following a successful run in 2021. The event will be held on the fourth floor of Tokyo Solamachi from November 3 until December 2, 2022.
Collaboration Merch
The collaboration will feature a variety of limited-edition goods with new designs based on the theme of the ‘backstreets.’ The lineup includes acrylic stands, clear folders, and plenty more. Special Baji birthday goods will also be available on November 3!
Collaboration Menu
The popular collaboration menu features food items inspired by the show’s characters, and guests will be able to enjoy everything from curry and yakisoba to pancakes and crepes. Even if you’re not hungry, you can still grab a drink!
Baji’s Birthday Celebration Event
From November 3 until November 7, fans of Baji won’t want to miss his birthday event. During this time, guests will be able to snag a special sweets plate, so don’t miss it!

A pop-up collaboration cafe for the popular anime series NARUTO and BORUTO: NARUTO NEXT GENERATIONS, has been announced! The event will be held from October 29 until November 25 on the fourth floor of Tokyo Solamachi.
Original Merchandise & Cafe Menu
There will also be a large collection of new merchandise featuring brand new illustrations for fans so snag. Along with acrylic keychains and pins, printed cookies, T-shirts, and towels will also be available!
At the collaboration cafe, fans can enjoy a lineup of dishes inspired by popular characters from both series, including Boruto’s Spiral Burger, Sasuke’s Stew, and Sasori’s Puppet Pancakes. A full dessert and drink menu will also be available for fans wanting to try dishes like Sakura’s Life-Long Love Parfait and Itachi’s Tsukiyomi Chocolate. A total of eight original coasters will be available, and one will be handed out with each dish ordered.
Sasori’s Birthday Project
The event will also celebrate Sasori’s birthday from November 8 until November 13. Guests can enjoy a special pancake set featuring the popular character along with a festive birthday decoration!

HELLO KITTY THE PARTIES, a new show at the theater and restaurant HELLO KITTY SHOW BOX, will run until December 30, 2022. The show features a new theme each month and currently features a jazz band.
October’s theme is Happy Halloween Party, and visitors can listen to a number of famous songs while enjoying tasty and healthy dishes packed with autumn flavors. At the end of the performance, a meet and greet with Hello Kitty will be held. November’s theme will be Hello Kitty’s Birthday Party, while December will focus on a Christmas Party!

Fans of the Sound! Euphonium anime will want to visit Hotel Keihan Kyoto Grande from September 23 until November 20, 2022! The second-floor restaurant Octava will be holding a special collaboration cafe with the series in conjunction with the Keihan Electric Railway. Japan’s largest sake event, TOKYO SAKE FESTIVAL 2022, will run from October 4 until October 6 at the Shinjuku Sumitomo Building’s Triangle Square.
The event’s aim is to make sake more mainstream around the world, with the first festival taking place in 2020. Tokyo Sake Festival blends sake with entertainment, showing off the very best of Japanese culture to those who may be new to craft sake. For the third year, former NMB48 member Yui Takano will serve as ambassador. Takano is known for leaving her idol career to manage the sake specialty store Yui Sake Shop.
Tokyo Sake Festival 2022 is bringing together forty carefully selected sake breweries from around Japan, including Inoue Seikichi, winner of the Champion Sake award at IWC 2022. Tonoike Sake Brewery, winner of Kura Master 2022’s President’s Award, will also be in attendance. The full lineup can be found on the official website.
Popular influencers and artists from Raphael to BOYS AND MEN and Ukon Takafuji will take the stage during the event, so be sure to swing by if you’re a fan of Japanese spirits!
