Purikura Photos Coupled with Wednesday Campanella’s ‘Galapagos’ EP

25.May.2018 | MUSIC

Wednesday Campanella‘s forthcoming EP Galapagos, set for release on June 27, is the first CD release from the artist in almost a year and 5 months since SUPERMAN.

Front-woman KOM_I wanted to make the title of the new release about the Japan that surrounds her and the current condition of Tokyo. ‘Galapagos’ is a metaphor that serves to represent these ideas.

The CD artwork uses purikura―a unique part of Japanese culture―as the symbol of Galapagos. The CD case is entirely clear red plastic with just purikura, making it the simplest cover design from the group to date.

The purikura used doesn’t take on the trends of today’s photos. Instead, it recreates the early style and size of those seen in the mid 90’s. These purikura are available as a bonus for those who purchase the CD in-store. Depending on the store you go to you’ll receive different purikura of KOM_I pulling different expressions.

Additionally, at Village Vanguard in Shimo-Kitazawa, they’re giving out instrumental CDs of Galapagos as a bonus.

Get your hands on the CD and nostalgic purikura!
