KOM_I of WEDNESDAY CAMPANELLA dances in group’s new music video for “Tsuchinoko” off their upcoming EP “UMA”!
The music video for “Tsuchinoko” off WEDNESDAY CAMPANELLA’s new major debut EP “UMA” has just been released. “UMA” is the first work that WEDNESDAY CAMPANELLA has released from Warner Music Japan (Atlantic Japan) and is on sale from today (June 22nd). UMA is an abbreviation for “Unidentified Mysterious Animal”, which highlights the existence of a strange creature that has yet to be identified; there have been reports and rumours of sightings of this mysterious animal, but its existence has yet to be officially confirmed.
The official music video for “Tsuchinoko” was posted to the group’s YouTube channel on June 19th. A “tsuchinoko” is a strange mythical snake-like creature unique to Japan. The beginning of the video is filmed in a very fantastical and magical style, and was shot in the backwoods of Chiba around the waterfalls. Tomokazu Yamada, who has had a hand in WEDNESDAY CAMPANELLA’s previous music videos including “Napoleon” and “Medusa”, directed the video for the new release.
KOM_I’s dancing is very impressive throughout the video as she parades through a forest enshrouded in mist, before leaping through the back alleys of town and twirling along the streets of night-time Shinjuku. The video is themed around rediscovery as it takes us through a fantastic journey through the city and nature. You can also see the making of “Tsuchinoko” starting today over at WEDNESDAY CAMPANELLA’s official site under the “GARAGE” section.
Furthermore, the group’s official homepage has undergone a complete renewal. Not only that, but their original logo, which was previously based around “water”, has changed to the kanji character for water (水) (pictured above), which they plan to use from now on.
With so much going on in the world of WEDNESDAY CAMPANELLA, be sure to keep up to date with the group and not miss out on anything in the lead up to their upcoming performance in San Francisco, US in July.
